OMT - TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR VS southampton

Love Verts but GHod bless him he aint a LB and he lacks pace - at the end when he got his yellow card it was because he couldn't keep up with their player.

Walker had one of his better games IMO - still no as good as las season but not as bad as he has been this season, so good on the lad

Wow.

Suffice to say I completely disagree with this viewpoint Mr Faisty

I refuse to throw Jake Livermore under the bus like so many on here.

William Gallas, on the other hand, deserves to be spotlighted for his shortcomings.

Livermore was awful - almost every time he got involved he gave away a freekick or possession.

Whereas Gallas held things together, marshalled the defence, blocked numerous attacks.

I agree Gallas is not the most mobile, but your post seems very odd to me.

Well chill the fudge out and enjoy the win then.

Your earlier post with the Redknapp comment makes me wonder, combined with an obvious rating of AVB, does make me seriously wonder whether you practiced what you preach now, last season. If you weren't negative towards Redknapp last season then I apologise for my misguided perception.

Sadly Livermore simply isn't good enough.

I didn't really see the game, just the last 15 minutes on a dodgy stream so could barely make out the players but I don't see how Livermore could have been so bad to be deserving of the comments on this thread.

We still won despite him not playing too well and he's come back from what, a month off with a few 5 minute sub appearances? He won't be at his best just yet and I hope the fans in the stands are a bit more supportive then 95% on here.

"We have been struggling with a lot of injuries and that's why these players have been immense so far," Villas-Boas told Sky Sports.

"We don't have the in-depth squad that other teams have. We're playing Thursdays and Sundays, having two or three days to recover and that's why the feeling is extra special."

Villas-Boas acknowledged Spurs were given a test by Southampton and felt a third goal after half-time would have finished the game off.

He added: "It was a great win for us, particularly on a weekend when most of the top teams played each other.

"We showed our technical ability in the first half and our desire in the second half to take the result. It was an important win for us.

"At half-time we spoke about scoring the third goal and they put us on the back foot a little bit. It was a solid performance from us.

"They came up very, very strong and we knew only the 3-0 would put the game to bed. It was certainly difficult for us and we're happy with the win."

what is his best? have you seen him at his best?

"The second half was what we wanted in the first half," Adkins told Sky Sports. "Credit to Spurs, they slowed the game right down.

"We had the sucker punch of the two goals we conceded, which were poor ones from our point of view. In the second half we had them on the rack but ran out of time.

"We totally dominated the second half and pinned Tottenham back. It was more of a cup tie and we had a high energy."

Adkins also praised Rodriguez, who scored his first Premier League goal for Southampton since his big-money move from Burnley in the summer.

The Saints boss added: "He works ever so hard and I think he's a special talent. He's got a great future in the game.

"His movement is exceptional. He got the goal he deserved today and had one or two other opportunities as well that didn't go into the back of the net."

Another signing Emmanuel Mayuka caught the eye and Adkins said of the substitute: "Mayuka coming on the pitch gave us a big impetus.

"He's a young man who has come in and wants to play down the middle. We introduced him down the right-hand side and he made the impact required, and did that very well."

Good win, 4th in the league and thats the most important thing. Gap with the leaders not that bad either.

We seem to convert chances when we would have missed in the past.

Now we need 3 points vs Wigan as we have after City and Arsenal away. For these away games we'll need LLoris, Ade and Dembele in the team.

What I really want to see, if we are still fourth come january, is splash out on Moutinho and a striker. I want us to do what we didnt do in January last season

Agreed AGAIN!!! i think AVB should be given the player he wanted from day 1...

I'd say his best game was Everton at home, last season I think. My memory is dreadful but in my opinion he had a classy game, crisp passing and tackled hard all match.

agreed he was great that game but this is the only game where i can say he has played well. whenever he plays he is always one of the worst on the pitch and find myself asking just what does he do

Can't believe this place. Missed the game, get on here and you would have thought we had been hammered.

A win, 4th place...what's not to like? Whenever Manu or City or the "big teams" win when playing poorly I always wish we could be like that.
We win after completely dominating the first half (from what the BBC says) and some people aren't happy.
Time for me to open that bottle and celebrate an away win and a banana skin avoided. Well done AVB, well done players, well done (I suspect) our wonderful away support.
