O/T Capello Resigns / New England Manager Speculation Thread

The Sherwood talk has been around before.

He is highly regarded within the club - a lot higher than Bond and Jordan apparently.

The talk was that Sherwood should be head coach - and then a new dof would be appointed.

But remember; it was only a rumour.

A new DOF? It gets worse and worse!

Would he do well at England?

With the seemingly stated premise that The FA for some reason prefer to hire someone English just because the previous manager wasn't English he most certainly seems like the best candidate for the job. There would be plenty of factors including luck that would decide if he succeeded or not, but he would most likely be the candidate with the highest chance of succeeding.

Even if including all managers in the world he would be high up the list of candidates most likely to succeed. Front two would be him and Hiddink for me.

Anyone watching your on sky sports? Some fella Justin from Dudley if you wanna archive it has just said he thinks Barry Redknapp should get it but he don't think dave levy will let him go. I brick you not.

At what point did I say he won anything? I said we were 3rd in the league. Actually he won the FA Cup, which is something we havent won for a while!

you have written off the other managers because they haven't won anything and aren't big names, saying what player will want to sign for them - Harry is not a big name and has one trophy to his name and spent most his career in mid table/relegation battles - yet he has signed some big players for us as well as getting the team playing better than a lot of people could have done and commands the respect of the squad - Redknapp proves that you do not need a big name manager to do well

If that was the deal, everyone would know about it. The pressure would still be on Harry and his thoughts would no doubt wander between Spurs and England. Apart from who would be with the squad for a couple of days and on the bench for the one single friendly there would be very little difference between that and him just having both jobs outright.

Would Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal or Chelsea have a part time manager??

No.

Harry - 100% Spurs focus and then you can do one in the summer old boy, that is the deal I fully expect Levy to confirm tomorrow in a press release.

Daniel will be LOVING this

Can someone tell Redknapp the England job is fudging terrible? The previous manager has managed at and won trophies at AC, Roma, Juventus and Real Madrid and yet did a poor job with England. As soon as he loses, or starts playing the players the media don't like or gets trounced 3-0 by Spain or Germany or inevitably gets knocked out in the quarter finals of the cup, the media and fans will be on him like a pack of hounds.

Whatever happens, I hope the FA and Redknapp make their mind up about it soon, I don't want this hanging over our season. The FA and Capello are massive tacos.

I do think we're being a bit optimistic if we think anyone can step in and continue the job Harry has done. Currently we're punching well above our weight by any financial measure; wage bill, turnover, profit, net transfer spend. He's done an amazing job to be fair, you wont just replace that with any mediocre manager out there.

Swansea manager is a good shout. It is amazing how he has that team playing. But again, if he did well for us we would lose him in a year or two.

Daniel, you took this stance with Modric, take it with Harry. Save him from himself if he is indeed desperate to end his career by managing England.

doesn't work like that with managers - if they want out you agree compensation and move on - only an idiot would hold a manager against his will

I think Capellos resignation is brilliant for Spurs! Absolutely perfect! Harry was going to walk in the summer and we would have been left with Capello resigning in July and then losing Harry mid-transfer window and 3 weeks before the season

Now we'll know well in advance whether he's going to be going and the most likely situation has to be that Pearce will manage England for the Holland game (OUR LAST GAME BEFORE THE EUROS) with Harry appointed in advance to take over in May. Levy can therefore offer Harry say ?ú1m if he finishes 3rd, ?ú500k for 4th so he is incentivised and also has 3 months to identify a new manager

The situation for us is far far better than a few hours ago

Quick to jump back on french side World cup 2010. I think it s still not the best to do it before a comp. That s all.

Poorly written, but the man talks sense

Just to add........we finished 5th under Jol.....Harry finished 4th.

When he was appointed most Yids were VERY underwhelmed.

If he goes in May, fine......not a second before

No one can tell the future. It's not about needing to be a big name manager to do well. It's about who are the most likely to do well.

Roy Keane on Rooney's comments:

"Wayne should keep his nose out of it, he didn't do enough on the pitch when Capello was manager."

Which is nice, but the second part is total gonad*s

Jol finished 5th on a lower wage to turnover ratio.......just saying!

Good way of looking at it. I hope your right.

And re our new manager - no to Lambert, Moyes, or any other tinpot british manager who has won bugger all. We need a winner. Full stop

I dont care whether that winner is British or Foreign however he's almost certainly going to be foreign as there are few british winners out there. As th enew man will be managing Croats, Dutch, a few african players, brazilians, etc etc he doesnt need to be English. He needs to be someone who is used to winning trophies. Man C appoitned Mancini because he'd won trophies in Italy. Thats what we need to be doing

Just wanted to point out I'm fudging proud as anything our club manager is wanted by literally everyone (except that dingdong Mark Perryman)

COYS.
