***TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs Leeds OMT***

I think the lack of an AM is an even bigger issue than the lack of a striker. With no real striker we lack incision in the box and lack a player who has a natural nose for picking up the ball in the box or a player who can anticipate where things might fall.

But the lack of an AM today just like many games this season without Maddison we have no real way to link the possession of midfield with the admittedly poor forwards that we played. There was no movement between the lines, no dropping in, no drives from midfield, no passes inside the channels. No through balls, no beat link play. It was all very sideways even in the limited times we got beat their box. Gray was honestly awful in this role, completely and utterly inconsequential today and I'm shocked he wasn't taken off at half time for Gallagher, a player I don't even particularly rate but someone who at worst suits the role faaaar more than Gray ever could. I do appreciate that we have injuries in that area but the choices he had for the AM today were Gallagher, Kulu or even LWB. Gray was never an option but it's the one he went with. A very, very strange choice. There's nothing about Gray's game that suits playing as an AM at all. He doesn't have the passing range, the creativity, the vision etc.

At times like these I sometimes think it's good to lose the odd game here or there and even put in some poor performances because otherwise our fan base loses all perspective because some just don't seem to understand what work in progress means and what is actually sustainable from this team as it stands. We have been well, very well recently but why are we pretending that the attack really works and that we creating lost of great chances, that's still an issue. The amount of fans I saw saying we will win every game up until Arsenal and some even saying we'll win that one too. 🤭
We need the losses to improve 100%
As fans and a team

I"ve only seen highlights, but for some of the chances they had our defending was laughable, the Longstaff one in particular, how do you get that much space and time in the box.

The goal was again, crap defending, poor header from van hecke, van de van nowhere and nobody tracking the runner.

I've seen Solanke get stick in the thread but he made a great clearance that could easily have been another goal conceded.

We need clean sheets.

Richy has huge weaknesses reduce is why we want him gone
But he fights
Agree you cannot compare Lankshear because it’s impossible to correlate but I’ve watched him loads and that includes youth football, Oxford and Boro
I’m sat here thinking who do we get because a blind man can see we need someone
You have best in class like Osihmen which is a pipe dream
Then you have a player like Krupi who I really like but the prem tax is massive and he isn’t a hold up player
Lankshear might turn out to be a mistake on our part and a strange decision. I personally would have done everything possible this summer to have gotten Richy and Solanke out of the club, bought a striker (literally anyone from my perspective) and kept Lankshear to try out. I would have bought 2 strikers tbh but hey I'm not the recruitment team.

Agree missing an AM is a problem when we don't have one as it would be for almost any team - only don't mention it because we have Madders, Kulu and Simons and just a question of getting them back to fitness rather than not having the personnel in general.

Absolutely, we was never just going to go riding off into the sunset and there are times when we will take a step back before moving forward again that's normal. We are going in the right direction, but quite a way off being the finished article....

"Tottenham are set to submit a formal complaint about the decision not to send off Jayden Bogle for his challenge on Mathys Tel during the defeat by Leeds.
Bogle, 26, escaped any punishment despite catching Spurs forward Tel on the back of the ankle with his studs in the first half of Saturday's game.
It is understood Tottenham believe Bogle should have been sent off and will write to refereeing body Pro Ref to seek an explanation as to why the incident did not result in a dismissal."

We won't get anywhere, but at least we are complaining, we dont do it enough

Must admit I am still baffled by all of the explanations as to why this wasn’t a red. It was his standing leg apparently? So fudging what?

It's good that we make some noise at last. This is the second time in three games they fail to send off a player for a stonewall red card foul. They were both clear cut, no room for interpretation.

Today was a forceful stamp, studs first, straight into the ankle/achilles. It was dangerous play, full stop. Accidental, maybe, but that matters fudge all. It was dangerous; a reckless challenge that could've broken Tel's ankle.

You could forgive the ref for not spotting it in real time, but those two muppets in the VAR box, who viewed the horror tackle 100 times over and still couldn't get the fudging basics right, should be fired and never allowed to ref a game again, even Sunday league.

Hecke had a decent game. That was the only thing Solanke did the whole time he was on.

Think the last few minutes summed up the game for us, we have the chance to make a quick attack and Deki can't make simple throw on, then Gallaher misdirects a poor pass straight out of play.
Crying out for some quality , what is Maddison doing on the bench if he is not fit enough to bring on ??

It is clear that we need to keep giving Deki the time to get his mojo back, and we are obviously playing a safety safety game with Madders. Today was (for me) a game where sneaking a point would not have been undeserved for the first-half performance. I think a lot has to be said about the ref, who aside from the pathetic Bogle incident let a lot
of things go. I understand this is a more physical league these days, but where's the line? I don't want to watch Larry Lloyd and Kenny fukking Burns alongside Tommy Smith and Ben Thatcher. I want refs who get rid of that sort of crap, and a game which does not tolerate it!

Just seen the challenge on Telby Bogle - how is that not a red card? Fudge it was awful, albeit bogle appeared to slip just beforehand. It was the very definition of dangerous and has resulted in Tel having to go off! Seriously I’m not understanding what is considered endangering your opponent these days.
It's quite difficult to understand that nodding towards someone is somehow worse than molesting and seriously injuring someone.

Just read some of RDZ's post-match quotes. At least he sees the issues (especially second-half). I still think a draw would not have been undeserved.

The whole idea of reckless or endangering the opponent is infuriating to me, because we have actually lost a player now for a few weeks who had to be subbed off.

There are plenty of reds which are unintentional but just because the momentum takes a player further than they expected (Quansah against Mexico) or because the opponent moves the ball a split second before the tackle is made (this where I’d class Simons, Mateta).

In this case, Tel moves the ball just before the tackle. The Leeds player may not have meant it. It may have been his standing leg. Still fudged Tel up, forced him off and injured him for a few weeks. Cut and dry harm to our player. If the others are reds, it is insane that this one isn’t.
