***OMT - Tottenham Hotspur v The Garibaldis (will Marinakis eat his own club with a cuppa?), Sat Sept 5th, City Ground, 3pm***

I think until the no.10s are back in contention we need to be lining up

Solanke
Savio Marmoush Kudus

Lacks a passer but then so do the other options.

A point away to Forest is a good result no two ways about it, performance was flat (missed first 30 minutes) but we need points on the board so will absolutely take it.
I think if Fernandes is one of the two in the pivot behind those four he'll add progressive passing.

Kinsky 8
Porro 8
van Hecke 7
van de Ven 9
Udogie 7
Tonali 6
Bentancur 8
Gallagher 7
Savio 6
Mamroush 7
Tel 5
————
Robertson 8
Kudus 6
Murdyk 6
Fernandes 6
Solanke 6
Robertson 8, really? Don’t remember him being involved in the game, whilst Forest became much more of a threat down his side when he came on.

I thought that was a strange sub personally, Udogie after a bit of a meh first half had started the second well. Unless of course he’s minutes are still being managed as well (🤦‍♂️)?

Last season RDZ got us playing better quicker, under more pressure. We don't really look threatening.

Something isn't right. Of the new signings, only Marmoush looks an "upgrade"... Van Hecke was the other but after that lucky escape after him and Tonali messed up the clearance I'm not convinced about him doing the basics.

We spent a lot of money and the basics are lacking. Either that or Xavi really made RDZ team look better.

Tonali and Gallagher should be replaced by Fernandes and Gray/Bergvall. Gallagher is good at running but given our best chances came from long balls it shows Kinsky creates more than Gallagher.

Bentancur was by far the best midfielder - he read the danger better and did his job better than other two midfielders. I know it sounds like I have a bias against Tonali but I just don't see the value he adds if we bought Fernandes too. Neither are the midfield destroyer we need, but I feel Fernandes can be more direct in his play when needed.

Agree with a lot of what you said but had we played a Bergvall-Bentancur-Fernandes midfidler today we are just as likely to lose that game just in the physical battle. When the forward line is firing on all cylinders then you can play a more creative midfield but it was the right call from DeZerbi to match Forest physically today.

Ive not been impressed with Tonali in the 3 Legaue games so far but not giving up on him yet. I really think we are close to take off.

Udogie & Savio were likely planned subs based on fitness levels.

I thought we looked bright on the left once he came on.

Savio couldn't play previous week due to injury and Udogie has not been properly fit all season and both were taken off exactly on the hour mark. It's pretty obvious this was planned pre game by the manager that they both get an hour under their belts and then taken off.....

At this stage last season we were apparently really going places under 'proper manager' Thomas Frank, and then there's of course the infamous 'Could we challenge for the title' chat after Anges good start.

RDZ statistically doesn't start the season well with a new team - whilst trying to embed a new system and whole teams worth of players I think I'll refrain to coming to any conclusions for a couple of months yet....

Strange that Savio seemed so surprised to be taken off then if it was pre planned, maybe someone should have let him in on it haha

So it was managing minutes then of players who weren’t at the World Cup or injured prior to pre season. What a shambles that pre season was in terms of conditioning. You can add Fernandes to that to.

Sky’s angle this evening is, “No shots on target today, and the first time since 1974 that Spurs have failed to score a goal in their first three league games.”

They’re going to be gutted if we start winning games.
Yes, now we have a point they need to find a different fact to beat us with. Villa had exactly the same record as us, but not heard a bad word said about them

Of course they're going to go with the negative narrative when it involves us.

Not going to do the knee jerking thing. We started very well under Ange and Frank and look how that turned out (other than the Europa League which I will always love Ange for)
We started poorly under Poch whilst the players learnt his system and eventually became the best Spurs side I've seen in my years supporting us.

I'd like to think that this will be similar to the Poch years. Hopefully one better.

While the team develops..... Bentancur is absolutely essential at the moment.

I thought Bentancur was excellent today, always makes the right choice and we really missed him last season.
The Savio sub was ridiculous for me, we were well on top and he was at the centre of everything, all I want next week is a more or less full quota of players to choose from, please football gods pleeeeaase!!!
Also Andy Reid is a prick.

Bentancur MoTM for me today, without him we would have lost, also did quite a bit of work in the air in set pieces and box defending.

Yeah not sure whether Fernandes was an actual injury or just managing of minutes but we lose a lot with him not playing.

Totally agree with you, this pre season was a shambles in terms of being ready for the season. After last season you would have thought there'd be a big focus on hitting the ground running but I guess these tours had been planned some time in advance. Consolation is history tells you it's how you finish that is more important but it's been a shambles no doubt....
