You say this but the gap in points between the top of La Liga and the bottom was exactly the same as in the PL.
But the 16th placed PL team made the EL semis (after a 17th placed team win it the year before) and a mid-table PL team won the ECL.

I’ve posted a YT vid on here a couple of times before about how a lower-mid PL team would be fighting for a CL spot in La Liga/Serie A/Bundesliga…I’ll try to find it and add to this thread.

You're conflating arguments now. Initially you claimed that La Liga had gimmie games and I pointed out to you that no it doesn't, then you said the gap was bigger in La Liga and again I pointed out to you the points gap was literally exactly the same. Now you're talking how well a 16th placed team did in an inter League cup competition. That doesn't demonstrate the difference of strength internally within each league and you can show me the video, cool that's their opinion but I watch both leagues and I don't agree that there are any gimmie games in La Liga, especially for the top teams. That's just not true.

Watch the league next season and I don't just mean the El Classico, but really watch the league you'll see what I'm saying.

Fair enough, I don’t watch anything outside the PL (and I’m watching less and less of that now due to several reasons, mainly having a young family) but you can’t argue with the fact PL teams have dominated European competitions over the past few seasons.

I mean, the likes of WHam, Crystal Palace, and even a poor injury-riddled Spurs team have won meaningful trophies. A relegation-battling Forest team made the EL semis (beaten by another PL team) and the season before Chelsea walked the ECL before going on to win the Club World Cup. The PL is the most competitive league from top-to-bottom…any analysis will confirm that.

Even a TF-led team (with a backup RB playing LW) thumped the second best German team 3-0 last season and a Tudor-led team gave Atletico a proper game outside of a comical 20-minute spell.

Anyways, this is a Romero thread…great header to win the game last night.

Not really
He did well to get there, but he flicked his header wide and it hit the arm of the defender and went in
doesn't matter, the goal gets recorded on the internet and positively affects his transfer value

anyone else getting worried that he might stay ?

Haters have to hate.
Nowt as self loathing as a Spurs fan. Blokes won the WC, Two Copa Americas and MOTM in a Europa League Final. People make out he is Callum Davenport.

He will end up at a very decent club, no level of 14 year old playground "well if he was why aint they queuing up" rubbish.

I have no doubt... my concern is on what terms. I fear that we will get a better price from a 20 year old who did not even play a single for us than a "one of the best CBs in the world" who won the WC, Two Copa Americas and MOTM in a Europa League Final

But every single deal has its own set of circumstances, its why we have overpaid for three players this summer because ours dictate that. Others might dictate that we want to shift and the super clubs on the continent dont have the money, if he went to Madrid for 40m as random example let's say, it doesnt mean his true value isnt higher, if we want rid it might also mean we dont haggle on his real value, people moaned for decades when Levy did that.

Athletico maybe a good home, questionable that they can afford his true value, we likely want rid, so whats the answer? I know its not for people yo say "I told you he wqs sh1t" when he clearly isnt

They know there is a bargain to be had.

It's more - no one good wants to pay the price we would probably want, and he won't go to anyone not good enough to merit a move given he's on a high salary here.

The ideal for us would be he takes a 50m move to Saudi, but then the second part of that para above applies. He probably wants a move to Atleti or Madrid, neither of whom are willing to pay us what he's worth.

Again - people are ruling out him staying here, I don't think it's as set in stone as that. IMO, there is a decent chance he ends up staying at the club given the market dynamics - up to us on how to adjust to that, and it will probably have to be by selling Danso in addition to Dragusin (if it happens).

Thats pretty much what I am alluding to. The market with money in football now is pretty much the PL and a handful of other clubs. Nothing is proof of anything these see days like it was in the 00s

I agree mate, but it amounts to the same thing in the end, which is that we have a problem in our hands in terms of selling him for a decent amount.

Personally I'm okay with him staying, though as @thfcsteff pointed out, it's a bit of a doomed endeavour given he's marked his card with PL refs forevermore, and will be unfairly reffed regardless of what he does.

My worry is more - if he stays (big if) how will he react to the probability that he loses the captaincy, fails to get a move at a price we want, and so on. And do we have to sacrifice a genuinely reliable player in Danso, to accommodate him?
