He wasn’t exactly a name when he came last time, it's more about getting a tune out of players, and energising the crowd.

Exactly what I've been saying, the crowd need a boost as much as the players.
Why does it matter if the players don't know who he is, most if not all probably didn't know who Igor Tudor was either.

I doubt any of our player, bar Ben Davies, know who Redknapp is. Most would only have been at junior school when he was last in the game. Gray would have been 6YO

Exactly. And if you want to motivate a bunch of players, you have a better chance if it's someone they know about and respect. With Redknapp, most of them would just think "wtf is that old geezer is doing here?"

Bringing Redknapp in at this time would feel a bit like copying what Saudi Sportswashing Machine did when they brought Joe Kinnear in from the old people's home...

Redknapp is not happening, I wouldn't worry about it - it's just a very easy media talking point. Redknapp said he hasn't been contacted by anyone at the club, and you know he couldn't help himself but to mention if he had been.

Whoever they've got in mind they would have been sounded out by now, and it's not Redknapp ....

In that case why not Perryman or Hoddle? While we’re so obsessed with previous players and managers, what about Burkinshaw or Ossie too? fudge it…lets give Defoe a shot, or bring Keane back from the mighty heights of the Greek league.

The whole debate about ex-players is only because Carrick has done so well at ManUre. That’s it. Because he was part of the most successful managerial tenure the PL has ever seen.

Compare that with the ex-Spurs names we are throwing around and there is not a shred of comparison other than the club connection.

Sherwood was terrible after leaving us, ‘Arry would get eaten alive by the tactical nature of today’s game (especially without the likes of Bale, Modric etc in the team), Klinsman a joke of a manager, Mason has never been within a mile of a successful managerial tenure…etc etc.

We have to go with a permanent appointment, and someone who has a recent track record of success. Maybe Rose, De Zerbi or Terzic. If it means we miss out on Poch then so be it…(we get to keep the dream of his return alive as opposed to the very probable reality that his second term won’t be as successful as his first). Give them 8 games to feel out the squad , a sizable bonus for keeping us up and a say in the new DoF we hire in the summer along with control over player sales/purchases.

The next hire needs to be about getting a tune out of the squad and not just reconnecting with the fans. We’ll still leave in droves at HT if we’re losing 0-3 at home regardless if ‘Arry or Dim Tim are on the sidelines.

The time for nostalgia has long passed. Let’s quit dreaming with rose-tinted glasses about how wonderful our exes were (when in reality there’s a very good reason why they are exes) and move forwards making sound, logical, football-based decisions.

That point on Bale and Modric, he had the best two players in the league, if not Europe, if not the world, and we still collapsed.

Would be madness to bring him back.
