It's easy to always be doing revisionism though. Most teams fail and don't win things. Most teams play mediocre football. Poch was an outlier that it was always going to be impossible to replace. Although I personally didn't want Mourinho (just don't like his arrogance), his merits would suggest appointing him wouldn't be the worst decision. Who else should we have gotten at this point? Of all the names mentioned back then, I'm sure very few are doing anything of note now. Hiring managers is a kind of lightning in a bottle gamble - most don't really work out, for any team. Conte had the merits. All of the armchair Twitter tactics experts wanted Ange. Then Frank was a bit boring but pragmatic and could play offensive football. He's even emphasized that himself. Yet, we don't see it, of course.
I don't know, getting everything to work in a football club is quite a jigsaw puzzle - it would be lazy to blame it on any one ting. Everyone needs to pull their load, including us as fans when we're able to support our boys.
