***OMT TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR FC V fulham...Sat 29th (today FFS!) 8pm - BTW HAPPY BIRTHDAY FERNADEZ'S OLDEST KID***

It's easy to always be doing revisionism though. Most teams fail and don't win things. Most teams play mediocre football. Poch was an outlier that it was always going to be impossible to replace. Although I personally didn't want Mourinho (just don't like his arrogance), his merits would suggest appointing him wouldn't be the worst decision. Who else should we have gotten at this point? Of all the names mentioned back then, I'm sure very few are doing anything of note now. Hiring managers is a kind of lightning in a bottle gamble - most don't really work out, for any team. Conte had the merits. All of the armchair Twitter tactics experts wanted Ange. Then Frank was a bit boring but pragmatic and could play offensive football. He's even emphasized that himself. Yet, we don't see it, of course.

I don't know, getting everything to work in a football club is quite a jigsaw puzzle - it would be lazy to blame it on any one ting. Everyone needs to pull their load, including us as fans when we're able to support our boys.

The one Frank left. Keith Andrews, first job as manager as well, and he is doing a better job when you consider resources and key players that Brentford sold during the summer.

Fair shout - but let’s see where they and we finish.

Other than that, looking at the table, I can’t see any.

Which team in the PL is regularly playing better football than us, or is higher in the table than us, and has a manager who has been in situ for four months or less?
Sunderland are playing better football with a whole new team form last year with a manager in his first season in the league
Doesn’t that show you what can be achieved quickly if you have a way of playing that the players get and want

The other managers there for 4 months or less are Nuno, Dyche, and Edwards. They didn't have the benefit of a preseason and are only in the doors at their clubs with 5 matches or less. So the one direct comparison he is doing worse at this point.

Already matched the home game win this month that Frank managed the second half of the season at Brentford
The Brentford fan I know says it’s much more progressive and less reactive than what he has been used
But he does love Frank

TBF, thats a well put together side over a number of years by Frank and one that planned exits with entries (look at their striker now). I take that as a plan over what ours seems to be.

Behind the scenes we have reappointed someone banned from football who people loved because he could be called "don"

Our issues are as much to do with unthought out structure than it is the manager, I strongly believe it

Have watched a few of their games mainly due to Andrews being Irish, so want to see how he does, and been impressed by what he's done so far. Was expecting it to be a disaster following on from Frank but he's really surprised me.

It's one that lost it's best players during the summer but has kept up the levels from under Frank and play more attractive football than under Frank.

But a side that has benefit from years of unity and well thought out behind the scenes work. That can't be argued.

There is more to building a club than spending large amounts of money on randoms

New manager
But stuck with the way he wants to play and it’s getting some results

Yes, it's well run and they are good at identifying players.

Or spending money on players that managers then choose to not use
It’s unity like you say and a plan

But then managers choose not to play certain players
That’s odd, right?

Thats an over player rhetoric. Xavi is proof that a well thought out plan is often best for new players, and has featured 18 times in 18 games, averages 50 mins a game, so its a lie he hasn't played, which is the kind of BS I keep reading everywhere

The squad is capable of playing much better football than is being served up. There's worse squads playing better football than we are. The reason for that is the manager. He wants us playing this style of football.

Which side is playing this football with as many personal changes and a manager who's barely into his tenure?

Smaller clubs are stealing a march on the bigger clubs because they plan their resources out much better. Brentford lost Toney, switched in Wissa to the middle, Developed Schade on the left then went for Thiago, Wissa left, Thiago came in, Frank left, they promoted from within. There is a reason it works for them and they are not often rocked by off the field activities, not least because their resources are streamlined.

Levy helped appoint VV, Levy was then ousted, Son left, we had no plan again for that succession, our summer work was again good then frenetic, we have two loans to plug gaps, we activated a weak showing LWer to add depth to the area Son left rather than have a plan for a real quality replacement. We then create a joint football exec role to integrate back someone who was banned from the game for a period........

Sorry but we can't compete with how joined up other clubs are behaving and when you add the constants of external noises from protests and fan groups using the club to raise their own profiles, it all just comes over as messy again.

Thats the reality for me

Thiago was brought to replace Toney and got injured I think
