Transfer thread

Wissa seems like bollox. He'll be 29 in september. Afcon aswell.

1yr left on contract, would be a backup/Richi replacement, worked before with Frank.

As I said earlier, it was either a put pressure on West Ham re Kudus or it's a for the right price pickup.

Funny part is Brentford is unlikely to sell him and Mbeumo, so upside of us buying him is we probably screw United out of a player.

Better to wait and get him for free*
*Although "free" usually means some enormous signing on fee.

Someone said Callum Hudson Odoi only has 1 year left as well; loads of people said he was pretty much the best 21 year old in England but... he hasn't yet set the world alight. One to attract next summer perhaps.

For £50m according to reports? Not for me. (Wissa £50m).

The fee certainly is with only a year left on his contract but I suspect the interest is real.

Unless Wissa is interested in a move to Saudi then I think he'll be off for a fee of between £20m to £30m this summer. Otherwise he stays and just goes on a free next summer - can Brentford afford to lose that (say) £25m transfer fee for the sake of a year?

Maybe with their manager off, Noorgard off and Mbuemo likely off they feel keeping Wissa and trying to stay in the PL is worth that £25m gamble?

The BBC reporter says the transfer is accelerating quickly, and the Forest reporter at the Athletic says that he sadly believes it's very likely to happen.
This is a pleasant development. Seems like we're trying to get Frank a squad that with depth and options for both League and European football. And buying before we sell.
