Interesting news from The Times this morning, Lazio have rejected a bid from Spurs for Hernanes- a Brazilian playmaker #THFC

If this is true, then they are looking for someone other than Moutinhio. Maybe they feel there is better value for money on players out there. I have never seen Hernanes play so not sure of how good he is.

Hernanes is quality, has great control can take on a man aswell as create lot of chances for team mates. Problem is im sure he was used in the same capacity as VDV and Sig.

I have read up about him, seems he is very good in possesion and likes to spread the ball about and forward and can play in multiple positions. So maybe he can just drop a little deeper into the B position of our midfield trio behind Siggy of VDV.

If the Hernanes thing is true then presume its just that Levy/AVB want to get 3 players for the Modric money rather than 2 (ie Adeabyor + Hernanes + Lloris (say) rather than Adenayor + Moutinho)

I put forward the consideration the hold up with Modrics deal might be unusual demands on the up front element - allowing us to perform some "unusual" business of our own.

I dont know if its true, its a hypothesis.

On the other side you're arguing we have supposedly asked for the Modric payment in 'full' so we can spend it immediately on a 30m player while in the past we haven't done so when concluding large sales.

So to summarise - we don't have money but will spend 30m on a player as soon as Modric is sold becsue he'd be paid in full?

Arcspace just out of interest why is it a disaster? Having sold Song surely Arsenal have got rid of the only bit of steel and will now be left with only tippy tappy midfielders . This has been their problem since selling Viera. Can't see them being a major force this season. but then what do I know?

What are you struggling with? We dont have money. We sell Modric = we have lots of money in our pocket. We can then set about spending said money...

If we have a large sum of money we are able to spend a large sum, in and out, which is more likely than us setting up a line of credit to the tune of £30m to pay out installments in a deal IMO.

Also, in a "cash up front" situation, its possible for us to get more of a deal. Moutinho for example. Reportedly valued at £31m.

Portos choice
Option A) £31m. Over 4 years. £10m up front down payment, £35m installments there after.
Option B) £25m cash. Done.

Can you see that perhaps Option B is agreeable to a club like Porto? And so why we might possibly be pushing Madrid hard for big money up front on Modric?

Because I genuinely believed he was the type of player we stood a chance of bringing in on loan for a season, especially considering Modric is on the brink. He could have added some much needed creativity in the middle and saved us 30m on Moutinho while we searched for a proper Modric replacement. Instead he went for a team who I believe (irrespective of what Wenger spins) shares the same objectives with us - i.e. CL football and will not challenge for the title.

You are right he did but I wouldn't be disappointed if a transfer happened. I don't think we've seen the best Dzeko yet. I watched him a bunch of times for Wolfsburg and he was fantastic and we've only seen that in patches for City.

Ade is my preference too but at this stage I'd take almost anyone.
