Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku has revealed he did not accept a Champions League winners medal because he did not feel like he deserved it.

"I didn't deserve it. I would find it difficult to accept the medal. Maybe it's something for next year," Lukaku said to Het Nieuwsblad.

The Blues defeated Bayern Munich on penalties on Saturday to lift Europe's premier cup competition for the first time in their history.

However, the Belgian forward, who joined the club from Anderlecht last summer, was forced to watch on from the sidelines as his teammates secured victory.

"After we won we kept smiling and dancing in the dressing room. Didier gave a speech. It was more beautiful than the title with Anderlecht."

"I've not even touched the cup. I don't deserve it because I was not on the list. I don't touch anything I don't deserve," Lukaku explained.

"That's why I also didn't touch the FA Cup. After we won we kept smiling and dancing in the dressing room. Didier [Drogba] gave a speech. It was more beautiful than the title with Anderlecht."

The 18-year-old also hit out at former boss Andre Villas-Boas, after the Portuguese left him out of the west London outfit's 25-man European squad prior to his sacking in March.

"But it's more than that. It was also the way he talked to me and how he handled me," he said.

"He was like that from the start. It was very strange. I can't take it when you act like that with me. He never told me why."

I wonder why?

Mirror football on twitter saying that
City are looking to hijack the leandro
deal.
No surprise there then !

If true, do City actually have scouts, or do they just bid for whoever us, Utd or Arsenal are linked with?

Most of our contracts these days are those funny 4+2 ones, so it wouldn't be surprising if he effectively has 4 years still to run.

He signed a 5 yr deal when Arry took over, maybe its a 5 + 2.

either way nows the time for a new one assuming he is a part of plans for next few years which I hope he is.

This holds true the majority of the time but there are exceptions. If a player would end up competing for their position with a well established, possibly world class player then it will be a factor. This is a very small percentage of transfers as obviously there are not that many world class players about by definition.

In Leandro's case he would have to dislodge either Aguero or Tevez to be top dog. This is a big ask and no matter how big his ego he will have some doubt over how much playing time he will get. I'm sure the extra 50mil a week will be enough to make his mind up unfortunately.

I'm sure there are exceptions, but I don't think this is one of them.

Both Aguero and Tevez are also utilize in wider/deeper roles and City rotate quite heavily. Combined with CL+PL football I'm sure Leandro Damiao would (rightly) think that he would get quite a lot of playing time if he did sign for City.

Actually you are probably right about Leandro and City. He'd probably get a fair amount of playing time.

Let's face it, if any of the carbon circle are interested in Leandro then we can't compete. I wish they'd all fudge off and form their own league.

hear hear, or is it here here. I always get this wrong, amongst other things.

Does it make a difference? Chelsea signed Oscar and PSG signed Lucas Moura while the olympics were ongoing.

With PSG already registering 5 non-Eu players in Thiago Silva, Biševac, Tiéné, Alex and Maxwell. I wonder which one they'll sell so Lucas can register. Probably Bisevac or Tiene

You were right first time!

It's "hear, hear".

It's an abbreviation of "hear him, hear him" (or a variant thereof) - an expression that originated in the House of Commons to express agreement with a speaker.

Yeah, but the point remains do you want to look back at your trophies at the end of you career and realise you didn't earn any of them. I remember Lukaku saying something similar about his Champions League medal. Doesn't mean anything to him.

Yeah i know, i do agree with you in terms of club football.

Yeah fair enough but they pay decent transfer amounts where as we try and be a pinch penny all the time , its harder now because the whole world is seeing how well he has been at the Olympics , clubs like Emirates Marketing Project are now seeing how good he is where as we have been tracking him for years it makes me sick !

Yeh I remember reading about it years ago and that it came from the House of Commons hence why they say it now, but if you think about it it could be both ways. Hear hear as in Im hearing you, or here here as in over here, im listening to you. meh. you were right

think we definetely line up with defoe and VDV against Saudi Sportswashing Machine. cant see that there is that many strikers around certainly not with our seemingly limited funds. all seems a bit flat going into the new season

The last time we played at SJP we had King, Parker, Modric and Ade in the lineup. It looks likely that we'll have none of those this time around.
