Yep, the ball comes fast at Romero who is one yard away, and it’s spun out of a tackle, and Romero’s arm is in a totally natural position for the movement he’s making… and VAR gives a pen??

If it’s technically correct by the letter of law - which I don’t think it is - then is absolutely not in the spirit of the game.

Poor decision, bad law. Robbed there.

But. 5 yards out.. Without his arm that is probably going in. You have to give them even if his arm position is natural.. Was a pen all day for me.

Yea I’m not outraged by the decision, as long as it’s consistent now. We know it won’t be though.

There doesn't need to be contact for it to be a free kick, and tackling with excessive/unnecessary force is at least a yellow, and this was reckless in addition. It's a stone wall red card.

Think if the ref saw the angle we saw. He is off. He saw something but not that and gave the yellow. At that point VAR does not like to contradict the referees it seems. He was lucky not to be sent off..

Romero unlucky with goal and handball (did the arsenal player handball beforehand)? But wanted him subbed cause i thought he might lose it mentally.

The passing around the back while being pressed was dangerous. Yet second half when we weren't vicario seemed to go long. Didn't understand that.

They got a deflected own goal and a MASSIVELY debatable penalty (Maddison tackled the shot which deflected up onto Romero's hand, which was only outstretched because he was putting his right leg flat and his left knee to the floor, you try doing that without raising your left arm!).

We scored class goals, but only really turned it on when we HAD to. We could have played with more need and more belief and got the win.

The penalty I would be upset to not get but its such a strange sport now where you can't jump or fall naturally where your arms are natural stabilisers for your body. What a time for defenders

He's a decent squad option and will get better.
