Harry Kane MBE

I hope so too
Just so it makes people realise how fudging good he is
If he can lift Bayern to be better than the teams in Europe that I currently think are better, that shows the level of the man

Definitely, would be great to see him fire them to the CL, getting 25-30 goals and winning the title wouldn't impress me as much as they always win it anyway. I'll try and watch a few of their games this season, from what I hear though it's not a happy camp with a battle between the experienced and younger players. Tuchel is quite argumentative as well.

That's what I said - they have the capacity to do it, we don't.

But we don't *need* the capacity to do it either - right now, to ever have a hope of winning everything, we need to get transfers 100% right every time for years. Impossible.

But maybe we get an al-Sawiris like at Villa who invests 500m into the club, or Kroenke at Arsenal with his 600m - then we maybe only need 80% of the buys to work out to have a chance, and can eat the loss on the rest.

Maybe with an FSG which invests a couple of hundred million and tanks the losses on the occasional bad purchase, maybe we only need 90% to be good.

Or Boehly comes in with his billions, maybe we only need 50% to be good.

There are gradients to allowing us to compete, but in each case, the boost from having an ambitious but relatively normal/non-state owner propels us to competing.

The only thing that's clear now is our present model gives us absolutely 0% chance, and the media know that - so betting on us to never win anything is a sure thing, because for the 22 grinding years under Levy and Lewis, it's almost entirely been the case.

Every single person you've mentioned as a potential owner (in example) is a turn-off to me (Kronke being the least).

Curious - why? None of them seem any more objectionable than the tax exile due to be done for insider trading who lives on a yacht in the Bahamas instead of paying his dues - this after betting against the pound on Black Wednesday and hurting a lot of ordinary Brits in the process. To say nothing of allegedly violently forcing natives off their land in Patagonia.

I get that people don't want Saudi or Emirati or Russian blood money, fair enough. But these blokes? How different are they from Lewis? Some may even be better people, mate.

One of the best things about this is how people will underestimate us now. As much of a legend as Kane is some of our best results in the modern era came when he wasn't playing and in Ange's system we won't be so reliant on one player. I think Spurs are going to surprise many this season.

You have repeated willingness
It’s not willingness
It’s bottomless money
If they we’re accountable ut would be slightly different
But they can lie as we know they do anyway
FSG have gradually been selling off shares to get money in
Chelsea are trying to do the same already by the way

Mate, willingness isn't mentioned in that post once. But, since you mention it - why is it not willingness?

Our owner is worth £5B, doesn't put anywhere near as much in as less rich owners who invest more than him - is that not a question of willingness? Is that not what holds us back?

FSG selling their shares to outside owners o get more money in to help *their* club succeed - again, a question of willingness. What are owners willing to do to win?

And in FSG's case, they actually won. Loads. And it is likely that Boehly will too before ENIC does again.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your point mate, but willingness and capacity to hand in hand for me.

Well, the day the Saudis chop up Henry Winter for writing a snarky article about Saudi Sportswashing Machine will...certainly be one of the weirder days in this world of ours. :p
There was a time when I'd have said that about them chopping up any journalist for any reason.

When a regime doesn't give a fudge and knows there are no consequences, it's surprising how quickly extremes become the norm.

True. More so when they're rewarded for their brutality too, which is also the case with Saudi Arabia. Khashoggi's murder silenced a lot of internal and external dissent, with zero pushback from the West - on balance they came out ahead.

Still, think Henry Winter or Kaveh Sohekol or Barney Ronay aren't worth setting up a saw grinder job over, so our hacks are probably safe.

Shame.

I would not mind Adrian Durham chopped up into a suitcase but would need a bloody big suitcase

This day was always coming. This year or next. I am glad we got some decent money for him and that he is moving out of the Premier League. I really hope he smashes it in Germany and wins it all. I will be rooting for him.

I am sad to see him go. He is an amazing player. But he has paid his dues and lets be honest we are a rollercoaster of a team at present. I wish him well.

Im assuming now the money we spend on VDV and the Veliz have some from this? I hope not. But its probable.
