I doubt if there’s anyone out there that we could appoint that won’t leave a significant section of the support feeling underwhelmed.

Not true 58 days ago, but true now.

Potter back top of the rumour tree today then. Guess the Palace noise has spooked us into action. Think its about the least worst option of those left at the momemt

I know Chelsea is a mess, but the bloke really struggled in every aspect of the job. He was sharing his mental health struggles in press conferences and seemed to find it difficult to deal with name players. It’s a real risk taking him on, I feel.

We need somebo0dy cheap to employ and cheap to sack who will accept not having much in the way of control over the players that come in or go out and won't make much in the way of demands on the board.... Somebody just like Nuno two years ago.

Absolutely spot on.

Though not sure we can say he stepped up again at Bayern? The players were practically in revolt against him?
But fair points and agree with what Mr Gogolak is saying as well.

The point I am trying to make is that there is a lot on twitter saying that they are done with this club if we get Ange in and we must get in Nagelsmann/Enrique etc; that there is this perception with established managers and established players.

I am just hopeful we can get someone in that can play attacking football but also put the club on the right direction culturally - which is why I think Ange could be a decent appointment.
Don't get me wrong, would also be happy with Nagelsmann, but I suspect he isn't the cultural reset we are looking for (i wonder if it is a maturity issue...)

Well Bayern is a higher level than either of the clubs he had managed so factually it's a step up - he done what was expected at that level on the pitch in his first season and then seemingly was let go because of politics part way through his second season, that isn't bombing out as you put it - personality clashes happen.

He's shown that he can get results with a poor/underperforming team, that he can transform a relegation threatened side in to a top 4 team in a couple of seasons and he's shown he can take a top 4-5 team and improve them further and then when given the chance at an elite club he showed he can deliver titles - all in a strong league. That ticks a lot of boxes and is an actual proven track record that can be easily related to our position and the strength of the league we're in.

Please tell me more about the winners from Scottish football. I'm not slating Ange to be clear, i just expect us to be aiming a bit higher?

This next guy went unbeaten in the League didn't he? maybe let's give him a call?

The next step for an SPL manager needs to be to take a team out of the championship.

Gerrard achieved much more in Scotland - winning a 1 team league with the not the 1 team. And he was then massively out of his depth at bottom half EPL

Here is the explanation again…

No one should be moaning at Ange getting the job.

We need a gettable miracle man to achieve anything with the way the club is run (near zero tolerance approach on you know what and inability to set us up effectively behind the scenes) and Slot and RDZ fit the mould but we can get neither.

Therefore we have to look for the hallmarks of other gettable potential miracle men and Ange fits that bill.

Complaints should be reserved solely for how the club is run if people are unhappy with the appointment.

Yes, Potter walked into a madhouse but soon had the thousand yard stare, started spouting nonsense and visibly looked spooked and out of ideas.

I’d have reservations about him now.

Nice write up. Sounds like a decent track record.

Yup. Nagelsman - 'would act as if he's doing us a favour'o_O

Potter - Popular on here a year ago, but because of that clusterfudge at Chelsea isn't good enough all of a sudden

Ange - Plays attractive attacking football but because he's in Scotland he can't be any good. Plus my favourite 'He wasn't on the poll list in this thread' as if people on here haven't suggested someone then they can't be any good:D I'm sure a year ago when De Zebri was managing in Ukraine the knowledgable lot on here would have been suggesting him as our next manager right?!

Reality is no one on here really has a clue....
As I said the other day, nature of the managers market that people now want people they never even mentioned last year, yet everyone else from lesser leagues like them are now being referred to as cheap and all the managers people would have accepted last year are now out of favour. Its actually interesting to see how people's opinions change and why, some are less subtle than they should be TBH

Why is Ange a 'miracle man' though? Winning the league with Celtic is anything but a miracle.

Potential miracle man. Its not easy to identify gettable potential miracle men. The pool is small.

But Ange did turn Celtic around and changed their style of play etc.

The other gettable potential miracle men are in small number especially when we are poorly set up behind the scenes to identify such men.

Marco Silva might have it in his locker. Slot and RDZ certainly do but they are not gettable.

Anyway we might as well give Ange a go and hope he has that in his locker, as there isn’t really anyone else we can realistically get that could transform us whilst operating within the unacceptable constraints our prick owners make us operate in.

Rangers didn't win the league, celtic lost it.

Word up here is that post is flattered but will not be leaving and definitely not for spurs.
Might just be wishful thinking on a lot celtic supporters mind you.

If that is the case then it really does look like Marco Silva will get the job.

Unless Levy can alter the planned new setup to accommodate what Nagelsmann wants in terms of DoF, although Nagelsmann is probably having second thoughts about us anyway.

More to the point however I think Levy knows Nagelsmann wouldn’t stick around long term due to the constraints he would have to work in i.e. there is only so far even a top manager like Nagelsmann can take us with enic as our owners.

So all roads might start pointing towards Marco Silva. I assume he would take the job!

Really dont get the excitement about Silva - managed 4 weak PL teams and not achieved much. I'd rank him at the same level as Rodgers

Would ideally like RdZ, then Ange, then Potter then GHod knows...then Rodgers or Silva

Who said there was any excitement about Silva or any of the candidates we are left with.

Of course, the Rangers job helped. But the main reason he got the job is because he was one of the best players of his generation.

Ange would be appointed solely on merit and his ideas for how to rejuvenate the club.
What merit? He's almost 60 and in all that time he's managed to climb all the way up to the Scottish league on the managerial ladder. That says a lot to me. I'd be truly disappointed if he's appointed. Surely there are better and more progressive alternatives out there.

What are the ambitions of the club if we getting posti? Especially when JN, pochettino etc were available?

My assumption would be:
- Levy doesnt believe in going back
- Nagelsmann was rejected for one of the many purported reasons such as personality (view that he's too arrogant), wanting too much control over transfers, viewing Spurs as beneath him etc
- ...however we want to play attacking football
