Of course, the Rangers job helped. But the main reason he got the job is because he was one of the best players of his generation.

Ange would be appointed solely on merit and his ideas for how to rejuvenate the club.

Will be gone inside the season. Time will tell.
Merit tho ? Scotland , Aus , Japan . Winning in these leagues does not merit getting the job at Spurs. He’s a journey man manager. Maybe a good coach but this job is a massive step up to anything he’s held before.

Just typical lazy analysis. Yes we get it - winning the league, potentially winning the treble in Scotland is nothing - my nan could do it blah blah.

It's not even about that. I watch plenty of Scottish football and the way he transformed Celtics playing style in a very short space of time was extremely impressive. Personally I have not seen a Scottish team play with such style in my years of watching. He gets his teams to play in the right way, an attacking brand of football that is very pleasing on the eye.

With the tools at his disposal at Spurs I would look forward to seeing with what he can do here and he will have my support....

The jobs don’t compare . Good for Celtic. Good for Scottish football. I’m glad you would be content with the appointment.

Lazy analysis ok . We are talking about playing good football with a side who are in a two or three horse race . I’ve seen plenty of it this season too. Not a stretch to say for 85% of sides Scottish prem they are league 1 standard. It’s just not the same.

My mind won’t change on this fact. Will support the team but it’s an appointment that won’t change this clubs fortunes in my view.

I think people are being overly dismissive of Ange because of perceptions Celtic
What has Nagelsmann actually achieved? Apart form being young and being fashionable. He bombed out at Bayern on the personality/culture aspects
Remember we had one of those with AVB
How many people were underwhelmed by the Poch appointment?

There is incredible pressure with the Celtic job - the old firm is incredibly intense and despite the perception that it is an easy league, you need to build a relentless winning machine to succeed.
He plays some really progressive football, and his connections to the Japan/Asia market might get us the next Mitoma
Kyogo could be decent in the prem.
Ange is an incredible communicator and someone that I think will bring the fans/players along with the journey and unite the club.

Everyone is always looking for the finished article or the known quantity....
What would have happened if we hired De Zerbi for example?

Isn't that ok when you have 'a hell of a system for succession planning' ? :)
But people can mimic your model if the brains go
Look at whether with his model of best young players form France
It was quickly stolen by others as it was “replicable” and Chelsea just threw more money at it to do it better

I agree with you, its more what they bring than the level they were at previously for me.

I'd take someone coming in and setting a new club high points total like AVB did.

This conversation has gone on for much too long and now, everyone has their mind set on this or that candidate. Therefore, people are reluctant to adopt a middle ground position. Don't take it the wrong way, but your post is a good example of that. Saying all Nagelsmann's done is being young and fashionable is basically the same as saying Postecoglou is incompetent because he works for Celtic. Everyone except Frank Lumplard has something going for them. For instance, I'd never appoint Luis Enrique in a million years but he's got some strong points, even Rodgers has.

The more this situation carries on and the more polarized opinions will be and, as @Mcfee says, a lot of people will be disappointed, whoever gets the job at the end of the day/week/month/year.

Was hovering over the like button until you mentioned Rodgers, but I agree with everything else.

I'm open minded about whoever it is, as long as its not Brenton.

We didnt even have Ange on the fudging voting list above hahahahaha. What a brick show.

Ange done well at Celtic? well i'm sold. the same Celtic who last finished outside the top 2 in 1994, beating the mighty Ross County and Kilmarnock's of Scottish football has me convinced.

Levy's wet dream, paying a manager hardly anything whilst charging us the highest STs in the league.

Nagelsmann took a side 7 points adrift of safety in the Bundesliga with a handful of games remaining to safety and then to two successive CL campaigns - he then stepped up at Leipzig playing good attacking football, improving their league positions over the two season he was there and then stepped up again at Bayern - his record tinkles all over an Asia Cup win and playing some nice football in Scotland with a team that only gets challenged 4 games a season if that (lets not talk about his record in Europe though eh)

Yep
It’s never easy
You need a lot of things to align on and off the pitch
We were gonna sack Poch (in his view) if we didn’t beat Villa with the Harry Kane deflected free kick all those years ago
I know arsenal were interview to replace arteta only 24 months ago but no one wanter it who they are wanted
Players coming through make a massive difference
Timing do other teams declines helps too
So much that can and does happen
How do you know that Arsenal were interviewing to replace Arteta? I would be surprised that Arteta would stay at Arsenal if they were interviewing new managers with him still in the job?

How much do you know of Ange? Or are you, like many others, just judging the club and the league, not the manager?

What would have happened if we hired De Zerbi for example?

My guess at this point...

He'd come in to fanfare with people expecting what he produced at Brighton. He'll struggle for a number of reasons - a squad not used or suited to his brand of football, increased expectations, opposition who treat Tottenham a bit differently to Brighton, a chairman who is more hands on than any he's worked for and a scouting network that isn't quite up to scratch.

Then the narrative would change from "De Zerbi is a genius and the next big thing" to "Jesus, he did really only have a few good months at Brighton and moderate success in Italy" and "Levy destroys another manager" and he'd end up out the door.

That's my take on it. I like the guy, love watching Brighton but I have doubts over him.

EDIT: Ooops misread your post and answered a question that wasn't asked but que sera sera
