Eric Dier

Your unshakeable belief in him is almost cult like akin to a religion mate. So basically he can play as badly as he likes week in week out as long as he tries it’s ok? If we employed that methodology for every player we’d get relegated.
And it's not like it he is 19 and learning. That I could forgive. He has been doing this for years. Imagine having him and Maquire......we have to let this go. It's like he cannot learn.

Yep. He’s on record saying CB is his preferred position. This is is 4th season playing there and he seems to get worse every season. Cost us at both ends of the pitch last night. And to top it off, he’s not homegrown which makes his position even more untenable.

It's actually worse, he told the club he won't play anything but CB anymore.

Going to be probably 2 out of Dier, Sanchez, and Tanganga leaving, I can't see us replacing all 3, so wouldn't be surprised if it's Dier still here.
Probably depend on who we get offers for.

I'd get rid of all 3 and as others have said, make Lenglet permanent.

We have enough cover at RB to not need Tanganga (and he's 24 now, and way short) so between Royal, Spence and Porro we have better options there

Assuming we make Longlegs permanent which based on rumours appears likely, then we can sign a couple CBs and we're fine without any of Dier, Sanchez or Tanganga.

Romero, Longlet and 2 signings as our 4 CB options. Davies, Royal or Paskotsi would be 5th choice CBs.

I could see us getting the best part of £40m the 3 combined - Dier: £20m to an Everton, Leeds etc?; Sanchez: £10m-£15m to someone in Germany, Italy or Spain? Perhaps the PL) and perhaps £5m with add-ons for Tanganga to an upper Championship team. That £40m funds a decent CB signing

Did he actually say that? That’s mind boggling if we caved in to him and even worse, continue to play him years later when it’s clear and obvious that he’s not up to it. I feel bad constantly slating him as he does love the club and always gives his all but this isn’t baby 8’s football where you can forgive repeated mistakes. His level is somewhere like Bournemouth or Forest.

Yep, remember being quite annoyed by it at the time (IIRC it was early with Jose)

For me, I don't go after players who play for the shirt, but his level is not good enough (not going to suddenly change) and he's one of the last hangovers of an era we need to get out of.

We're the only club where i could actually believe that. And I'm not a dier hater.

That's if you can believe anything you read in media or internut, he may have made a case that's the only place he can play due to his lack of pace and mobility? I think most fans agree we need better players at centreback and those who do get selected are currently our only options, I now read that Romero is not the messiah many were raving about, fickle fans? Not us.

Not saying it's true, just that its believable.
I don't think dier is any worse than some of the players that are regularly touted on here, tarkoski (spelling ) mings etc.
It's not individuals that are letting us down, its the system and team work.
We make little or no attempt to cover or help each other.
Are arsenal or Saudi Sportswashing Machine any better than us?
I really don't think so, yet you wouldn't think it to watch us.
But they are have a togetherness and purpose we can only dream of.

There is a bunch in there

- First two points I completely agree with, part of that is system, part of that is the zonal brick, part of that is the robot orders (vs. reading the situation in game)

The last part is true right now

- Saudi Sportswashing Machine I probably give another year or two before the entitled brick starts to creep in
- Arsenal imo will far more likely revert to norm vs. continuing to progress from here, and the fact that they didn't capitalize is going to create even more pressure. I could see next season being a bad one for them and they will quickly revert to the negativity they had prior

The players with the ability to cover the deficiencies in their team mates are not suited to playing in the current system.
Bad combination, that's one reason i think jose and conte where bad choices. That sits purely on the board.
It ni coincidence that under both we were ok to begin with because they didn't fully impose their systems. Once those systems were insisted on through out the team it went to poop.
Saudi Sportswashing Machine at the moment are just us under poch, a happy team making the most of themselves because they can see better days. There's a better chance it will work better than did but i don't think its as stuck on as most seem to think.
Arsenal are only where they are due to circumstances, unlikely those circumstances repeat next season.

If only it were that simple. If Lenglet was cover then ok, but I wouldn't want him as a starter at this point.
