Arnaut Danjuma

Who has been making digs at him for a lack of a price tag? On here I've mainly seen people wanting to see Danjuma play and being frustrated that Moura was coming on instead of him..

Lovely strike today though. It'll be interesting to see if he can be adapted in to a system that works alongside Kulu that isn't complete and utter suicide or perhaps take Kulu's place to give the Swede a bit of time out of the spotlight / a rest.
I've seen a couple on here, seen a variation of digs about him not being a good option and underhand digs about his value and Conte preference to not play... not all exclusively to this forum but certainly been some on here too.

I agree it's been tempered by alot of calls for him to play

Really don’t think I’ve seen anything like that on here…. Comments about signing a player that the manager didn’t want due to him being cheap, yes…. But not ones commenting on Danjuma’s quality.

I have seen stuff, as I say here and elsewhere. I would also say that comments about a player being a cheap option is hardly an endorsement of their abilities either. But not here to argue about it

Point is, as much as people mention the facts Conte may or may not have spoken, Danjuma and the idea that players come into help even "club signings" can be proven to work, if only given the chance. Conte most certainly limited his options here with some of the players whilst others undoubtedly let him down. That was kind of the theme of Conte season

Playing a player with a point to prove can’t be a bad thing
It’s what a brave manager would do
Shame we haven’t had one for a while

Certainly not slating the guy, but I've not seen anything from that justifies the clamour.
Don’t want to see him fall victim to the "he's regressed" narrative if this is his level.

Think part of it is that when a player isnt in the team, their popularity rises.

Always happened to Defoe - he'd be out of the team and then everyone forgot his failings, til he next played

Subject to the manager's system, swapping him for GLC in the summer might make sense though

I would say it's more the need for freshness and replace players who are getting time regardless of performance or attitude. From my perspective it was more a clamour for change and a different look than thinking he is an absolute world beater.

- He's a decent finisher
- He brings a ton of energy to the side (same as Richi)
- He helps press from the front
- He's actually constantly talking/directing players when we are out of possession.

The question isn't "is he a world beater", the question is how the fudge did Lucas and out of form players get constantly played when this guy was an option?

That’s the scariest part
Conte didn’t play him at all because he wasn’t his signing
It cost us points potentially

Honestly Conte can fudge off

- Between telling Son not to shoot and stay central
- Barely giving a nod to Sarr, Danjuma, Spence, etc because they were "club signings"
- Spunking our entire budget on a RWB when we had three players there, getting rid of the one player who could play both sides instead of talking whatever CB £45M could have gotten you.
- General toxic brick

I agree
I mean it’s the manager who makes those calls

As there are only 16 pages, one can find some very interesting things being said about Danjuma's lack of playing time.

At least he's scored, our record signing still doesn't have a PL goal for us.

Absolutely nothing against the guy, just worried that some of the hype is leading to high expectations, and if he gets some time or GHod forbid starts the usual regression, slump, lost mojo narrative unfairly crops up.
