Antonio Conte - officially NOT the coach of THFC

2 creative ones - a ready made and an understudy. A Kudus and a Scott

Are we hoping to move to 3 in the middle then? If so then only one of Son, Kulu or Richie can play alongside Kane. I'm up for it. We definitely miss an ACM to make things happen but it would be the end of our current front 3 right?

I would happily see a 4-2-3-1 but doubt we will under Conte.

re the above posts on formation: a new manager will likely change our formation and tactics

It's somewhat irrelevant though - near term priority is having another good window (after 3 decent ones in a row) and bringing in a decent keeper and couple CBs. Ideally a creator too.

Once that is done then enough of the rebuild has happened that a decent manager can create a competitive team from what we have

Paratici and the impact which he has is far more important than Conte at the moment. Hopefully he stays out of prison and able to work!

This manager cannot cope with challenging on multiple fronts. There is no way he will win a trophy if he has to also aim to finish top 4. He won the PL with Chelsea because they didn't have energy sapping European football to contend with that season.

This manager is a proven winner. Even in the epl.
Get the players he wants, including those on the bench, we will be fine.

The issue clearly is we have to many players he does not want and trust. That's between Levy, Paratici and him to sort out.

Last season with Conte in the league:

• 28 games
• 17 wins, 5 draws, 6 losses
• 60 goals scored, 24 conceded

This season in the league:

• 26 games
• 14 wins, 3 draws, 9 losses
• 46 goals scored, 36 conceded

Getting to a point now where there's been enough time to reflect on what progress has been made - in fairness on paper we're in a better position than any time since the CL final, but in terms of this season v last i don't see any progress being made on the pitch and there's certainly been enough investment made to expect to have seen some.

We don't look like we're moving towards a style of play or tactics that the manager is trying to embed - we're just lurching from game to game trying to eek out a result, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't and seldom does it entertain. Eerily similar to the Mourinho era

I don't thin Conte's gone bad. Probably better as he know the team and management more.

To me quite clearly
-Additions of perisic and Richy backfiring
-Lots of other ineffective purchases while defence has gone backwards.

All about application of players that we've bought.

Could be a budget thing (still need to invest in the future) or there are untouchables (could be because they cost next to nothing and do a decent job)

Conte has had his share of issues off the field this season tbf, health scares and colleagues/friends passing on etc, heavy stuff - I'm sure this has had a negative effect on his performance as manager and understandably so, so with that in mind i don't want to go in too hard on him but from our perspective probably best if we part ways in the summer if not before.

It's odd, I want to like the post but also simultaneously call flimflam on the "rebuild" point. Every fudgein team out there has to rebuild, constantly . If you win something, guess what? Staying the same will hinder you, you have to evolve.

I like the vibe on the last three windows but when you think about Richy, Bissouma and Perisic nevermind fudging Lenglet being a development of the summer transfer window, can you really suggest it was a good one for the meantime? Obviously it's too early to talk about Porro / Danjuma - But it seems like a mess currently, an expensive mess...

We need to build a team for the next 5 or so years. So that means starting to rely less on Son and Kane

And Spence. We wasted over £100m on Spence, Bissouma and Richarlison based on their contribution for the club so far. They may come good in future but it’s highly unlikely that they will be difference makers this season especially with Spence on loan and Bissouma iniured meaning it falls to Richarlison. Imagine if we’d bought two solid centre backs for £40m apiece plus a £20m young back up striker, maybe a gamble for the young striker but at least two solid centre backs, would we not be looking a lot better for that? I feel like our transfers have been far from a hit and question why we spent so much on players that we didn’t need as much as the suggested centre backs. We have a DoF but has he really improved our transfer approach whilst working alongside Conte?

And what's worse is they hardly bloody play and or subbed at 80. And maybe for some inexplicable reasons they felt our back line was fine enough until whenever they fixed the main problem. But the main problem is the defense. I want ENIC out but I'm also now just thinking would that indeed change anything??! As crap as we are I still feel we could do better with what we got. Next manager comes in and we start all over again. Honestly we could have Pep, Fergie, prime Jose altogether And Ten H and we will still struggle. Tantrum over

The bizarre thing is, most were annoyed about Bentancur and Kulu, but buzzing for Richarlison, Bissouma and Perisic.

The truth is nobody really knows who will fit in. One thing I will say about Richarlison. He was bought knowing he operated in 2 positions. Left forward and Centre forward. For whatever reason he’s only just dislodged our left forward who managed to score in one game out of 24 or something before it happened. That’s absolute madness imo. He then starts 2 league games in that position (2 wins) where he adds a bit of intent and plays well. Then we switch him to forward and back to bench and lose both games. I’m not saying that’s the reason but the thought process at the club is crap.

My firm belief is the guys in charge are dinosaurs who react slower than any management line I’ve ever seen, both with pre game setups and in game changes - and simply don’t know how to get the best out of the newer players/haven’t used them correctly.

GHod forbid we should actually have our manager present for the most crucial run in of the season. CL, FA Cup and race for 4 and he is off sick. Sums up our season TBH

He is unwell, it’s right he’s off.
I'm not saying that, I'm saying that it's a crap time for us to lose our manager when we are playing at the business end of a season when maybe a 5% will help.

Lots of debate about priorities and the club being brick on here, maybe with some merit, but you can't discount how disruptive this break probably is at a time you really want to have your 15m a year manager

We needed a backup CF of quality for years. We run Kane into the ground and we’ve only had the likes of Janssen and Llorente to fall back on. Richarlison is proven Premier League quality so, on paper, was a great signing. He hasn’t worked out yet so that’s on the player and management for me, not the DOF.

We were very lightweight in MF. It was acknowledged on here and on every other Spurs site. Bissouma was one the best midfielders in the league last season and was Brightons best player any time I saw him. 25m was a steal for him. Again it hasn’t worked out yet so you’ve got to look at the player and management for that.

Spence seems to have been signed for the future. Good attacking RWB by all accounts. How often do we have fans complaining that the club never shows any vision and doesn’t plan for the future? Well Spence and Udogie are evidence that we do. I’d have given Spence some chances personally but obviously Conte sees something he doesn’t like. Doesn’t mean the DOF was wrong to sign him.

Out transfer business in the summer was very good on paper. Frustrating it hasn’t worked out yet but I still think some of these boys will come good.

There’s also no guarantee on CBs we’d have signed for 40m and who are these players? We’ve also looked pretty good defensively, Leicester aside, over the last 6-8 weeks.
