OMT Spurs vs SomeDodgy Mancs

Sess instead of Perisic, gives a bit more defensively and hopefully Son is finally dropped and Richy or Danjuma starts.

Two goals against Preston isn't a big deal as such, doesn't say much about if Son is on his way back to form. The kind of time and space he got in that game for his goals is unlikely to happen against City imo.

But two goals last game. Has been chosen ahead of Richarlison very consistently even when he's been lacking form and not recently scored a couple. I think he is very likely to start. Though wouldn't be against Richarlison getting the nod. Really struggle to see how Danjuma would get the nod as a starter though.

For me Davies would be a pretty clear first choice for this one. Has done at least as well as Lenglet overall imo. Better suited to the defensive needs of this game and Lenglet made a couple of errors recently, would be wary of that continuing.

Don't quite get the certainty about Perisic being the starter for this one from some here. He was really rather poor against them last time. I think Sessegnon is better defensively (though perhaps not by much). Fewer opportunities for Perisic to do his thing on the final third in a game like this. Would actually be slightly surprised to see Perisic start this one.

On Porro I'm kinda with you. Want to see him start. But probably that's mostly new signing excitement on my part, want to see him in action. And want him to be ready enough for him to be seen as the best choice by the coaching staff already, as that would just add to the excitement. But I have no way of knowing if he's actually ready to the point that he would be the best choice.

Wouldnt be a major surprise to see Royal at LWB and Porro at RWB

Hadn't thought of that option until you brought it up so would have surprised me even more if it happened if not for your comment.

It would still surprise me. Defensively I guess it would make sense, but Royal is really untested in that LWB role. Playing him there and Porro as a brand new signing at RWB would seem like quite a big risk to me.

Can't see Son being dropped after finally scoring again. Two crackers as well!
Also, Son has an excellent record vs City.

Yes it's a risk, but I was just trying to think of something they may not expect and it might counter the threat of Mahrez cutting in on his favoured left foot. Probably not likely.

Two goals against a poor team. He scored better goals against Leicester and we've seen how poor he's been since. He needs to do a lot more to deserve to be in the team.

He shouldn't have been chosen ahead of Richy when Richy's been fit. As for Danjuma, if he isn't an improvement on Son this season it ranks with N'Dombele as a poor signing.

Do we know yet if Handbrake has recovered enough from is hair implant top-up surgery to be in charge, or are the coaches doing it?

I agree that Son needs to do more, more thinking about what's likely to happen. And that there's a chance at least that a boost in confidence could help him. Games like this are usually quite good for him when on form space on behind, just needs that one right pass. But he did very little last time against them. I wouldn't be against starting Richarlison, but I would be somewhat surprised if he does start.

Not doubting Danjuma, he's done nothing to indicate that I should doubt him. But it's a massive game to chuck him into for his first start. It's a game where the defensive shape and working well within the system will be very important. He's had very little time to get integrated. For those reasons I think it's unlikely that he starts, unless he's been a beast in training of course.

Not saying much or anything about what he will do or what he should be given the chance to do once he's had time to settle in a bit.

I've been shouting for Sonny to be dropped for a while, but now isn't the time. He's just scored a couple, regardless of the opposition, so he should start. Hopefully with a bit of confidence behind him he'll have a decent game. But then, I said the same after Leicester.

What I would say is that, if it's not working, Son should be subbed off.

?

If that's referring to Conte's op, its in pretty bad taste
Come on, gallstone ops are very common/risk free.

We all know about Malbranque though.

And Eriksen always used to return from minor injuries suspiciously less receding

Aint it strange, only 5 teams has let in more goals than Spurs, and we only bought atacking players in this window
