*** OMT Spurs vs West London Defence League

We defended really well. That corner goal for them is a blemish. Without that the game takes another path imo.
You could argue the same for that Sess miss one-on-one with Mendy right after their goal. However, I still think we would have looked second best, regardless. They played way too well and we couldn't hold on to the ball. I mean, at 3/4 of the way through the game possession was 70/30. That shows how dominant they were and we would have been lucky to get away with a point they way the teams played.

I know fudge all about tactics, so can't comment on that aspect. What I did see, however, is a team that couldn't exchange two passes in midfield to save their lives vs a team that was pinging it around with ease and always first to the ball. Before the game my hope was that we would dominate them. Even if we had lost, that would have me feeling we're a team that has improved from the level of the final third of last season and has a lot of potential to actually push City and Pool this year. Instead they dominated us and made us look like a relegation team. I don't know if it's player quality, mentality, or just one of those days. I'm hoping it's the latter. Regardless, I can't wait for the return fixture and do hope we draw them in a cup for an additional opportunity to get back at them.
Two reasons...

Firstly, they outnumbered us in midfield. Our 3-4-2-1 has Kulu and Sonny playing relatively wide. Neither has a brief to come into the centre of the pitch and get stuck in. In contrast, Chelsea's 3-4-2-1 had Mount and Havertz playing much more centrally, to help out Kanté and Jorginho. Hojbjerg and Bentancur didn't have a chance.

Secondly, Ngolo Kanté. He's still world class, simply the best at breaking up play in central midfield.

Chelsea always, always play better against us than against anyone else…
They won’t play better in any other games most of the season
We also struggle against Tuchels team… again that’s a fact. Very few teams will play the system they played today and the gap between the better sides and the weaker ones this year is bigger than ever

Kante was outstanding again
Their fans seem to think they need to bin him… mental

Overall happy with a point, not many teams will come from behind twice there and all that without playing particularly well either and many of the new signings not even starting. 4 points is a good start and I think over the next few weeks some of the work on the training ground will start to come into play.

And we are four points up on the same fixtures from last season.

I wouldn't be surprised if Conte approaches the season this way: hey guys we dropped points in this game last season, let's make sure we pick up some this time around. It's very straightforward and easy to understand and sets weekly targets, rather than an overarching one like "let's get 80 points this season," which although also specific, is probably a bit more difficult to manage.

We should do better against weasel's team, though. I mean, we played them 4 times last season. By now I would expect Conte to set up the team in a way that negates weasel's tactics. It's not like the gulf in class is that great.

Make no mistake…. They have been planning for this game since the fixtures came out. It’s their cup final because they own that cup. They have us over a barrel and they dare not lose it
We always brick the bed when we play them of course and did for most of yesterday

Exactly take each game as it comes, no point in saying get x points from next y games, get 3 pts from next game and move on.

Sky moaning that it should have been a red for the hair pull. About time we got some luck after the appalling decisions that we used to get against Chelsea (Bunje's broken cheek didn't even merit a yellow, as I recall).

There's a strong argument for it being a red which makes what Romero did completely brainless. There was no need and he gave the ref a decision to make.

Romero is a very talented lad but he's going to cost us big time unless he starts to cop on a bit. Talk of him being in the same league as VVD is crazy. He has the talent but he also has a lot to prove.

Fair comments; his card may be marked now somewhat...still i'd rather have him in the big cauldrons than other CBs we've had recently..

Yes but last year is history it's this year that matters. Too many imponderables to look beyond next game.
It does all sound great, until you realise it doesn’t mean anything unless you win all the games you won last year which we won’t. Or are people expecting us to do the double over Emirates Marketing Project every season:D…..
