They’ve just referred to Johnson’s office in Downing Street as The Bunker on Sky News.

I wonder who’s got the cyanide pills and the can of petrol?

The MPs are not the problem per se, the party system is.
It stifles open expression in exchange for power and punishes open expression by restricting power. That isn't democracy.

I said before the Brexit vote that we shouldn't be doing it because our political system was nowhere near ready for it and we should concentrate on getting our house in order before pointing fingers elsewhere - and I was right.
Although I must admit I didn't think it'd get quite this dysfunctional.

Disagree, all the MPs were dragging their feet on the bill and putting their own thoughts over the people who had voted. We need anothr Guy Fawks.

I was referencing your comments about MPs "not being honest and trustworthy".
The MPs are not the issue, the set up is: it disadvantages and disincentivises the ones (the majority - I even include Tories in that!) that are honest and trustworthy.
 
The third option is MPs were reluctant to vote for something they knew would be damaging for the nation.

The referendum was advisory and MPs are paid to represent us.

So why does it take being so close to losing his job for him to do the things he's always claimed he wanted to do? He's saying the right things but if he continues on this dangerous course of leftism then he'll have to immediately leave.

The planned tax increases should be a line in the sand. We can only judge people by what they do, not what they say. One can't simultaneously make claims to be a supporter of small government and raise taxes. If he doesn't rescind those plans then everyone's letters have to go in immediately.
 
I reckon that the reason for the support of the albino fudge wit within cabinet is simple. There are plenty of other tories who have broken lock down rules too. It would be a circus for Johnson to have to resign, only to be replaced by Sunak and then for photos of that spiv clam to be released, champagne glass in hand then he goes and well. You get the rest.

I suspect it's far more simple than that - he's popular.

If he can be reined in and start behaving like a conservative then he can be very useful. Recent Telegraph articles appear to me as if that's been made clear to him - govern properly and you survive, continue to govern like an economic halfwit and you're gone.

Why not just get someone more competent and less fascist? Surely there's someone amongst your 360 odd MPs who fits that bill?

If he's economically too interventionalist for you, and socially too oppressive, why still support him? If your neo-lib and he's fascist. Surely that's complete opposite ends of the Tory spectrum?
