*** OMT - Tottenham Hotspur v Chelscum ***

Spurs started frightened.
Cheatski pressed us and we shrank back, unable to string 3 passes.
They had runners and options and were knocking it around neatly with 10 yard passes that had 90% chance of meeting their target.
We were isolated, pressed by 2 players within 1 second, playing ugly scraped passes that had 10% chance of meeting their target.

This is the 27th time I have watched that performance at that ground against them.

tough match but we're miles away from Chelsea, Liverpool, City, if you didn't already know that then you need help.

Also, this wasn't a weak Chelsea outfit but their first team almost all over the pitch. Few changes, like us.

All i can say is, we're half decent with a full strength team, the moment we lose just a couple of that first team, we're utter brick. We have terrible depth in the squad that is totally unbalanced (Ndombele, Winks, Lo Celso in the middle but absolutely no one half decent at wing back or full back with Sessengnon out injured AGAIN).

Give Conte what he needs and he'll work magic

Holjbjerg absolutely awful and could not understand Skipp going off instead of him.
I know it's still very early days for Conte and I love the guy already but is anyone else slightly concerned by Conte's apparent safety first attitude around the midfield?

He's taking the correct pragmatic Italian approach with a squad that is sadly bang average. First thing is to stop conceding and since he's taken charge the team has been a lot more solid defensively than before. Sadly our away form continues to be poor and against top teams like Chelsea, we'll be especially exposed in ALL departments I feel.

Don’t think anyone will disagree

I loved Conte's very honest post match interview. At least until he said we need to "clap Chelsea." No, Fudge em Antonio.

Couldn't agree more. If Nuno had said that, he'd be ripped apart. Love Conte but he knows enough about football to know we'd rather cut our hands off than applaud that mob.

Mostly agree and guess it's my anti pragmatic Spurs DNA that is always hoping for more attacking team selections.
We'll hopefully see more of that once Conte has a squad he trusts.

We're not under Conte, just up against a superior side tonight. Son was poor again, PEH too, we don't have the quality to carry 1 player never mind 2. They just have more quality in most positions and are well coached. We'll beat most of the teams below us and hopefully get the odd result against the other top 5 or 6, we'll have to see where that leaves us.

We haven't scored from open play in three games now.

I'll just leave that there.

Seems that even Conte is unable to outConte Spurs' ability to outSpurs ourselves.

He’s only been here 5 minutes tbf, taking on the Champions League winners, away, without his best 2 Defenders.

if Chelsea were up for it and didn’t rotate, which they were and didn’t, then we were always going to be up against it. I was hoping for a -1 deficit or better going in to the second leg, but I think -2 is about what I expected.
