Harry Kane MBE

I think the club should organise a public flogging of Harry on the High Road. From the comments on here, it seems like its about the only thing that would make some fans happy

I’m quite happy for Kane to be flogged but I’m not going all the way to N17 or paying £9 to watch it on pay per view, even if 3% of the takings do go to Covid orphans. What’s the chance of finding a good stream of the proceedings?

The biggest disrespect that Kane has shown our club is exemplified by the fact that we all know that if we had sold Kane to Emirates Marketing Project at the end of the season he would have returned nice and early, wide eyed and bushy tailed, eager for the new season to start.
Good point, it's the first time ever he hasn't rushed back!

I refuse to believe that our management indicated that Kane could have an extended break which would enable him to start training with his team mates on Thursday 12th August when the season starts the following day.

Well, the club haven't denied it.

As I said above, its Sky's reports vs Harry's tweet vs the club's silence

You have to look at when the other players got back who also played in that Euros final.

I agreed. I just googled Raheem Sterling and he returned to training on Tuesday this week!

Taking another club, Declan Rice was 3rd August

Again, it seems that people want to just fill in the information void with the worst case assumption

Why would the club hang him out to dry if he’s done nothing wrong? He’s our best and most high profile player. Surely they would clarify rather than let people speculate? None of us know the complete picture but when you have Kane earlier in the summer pretty much saying he wants to leave, City making a bid for him, Pep openly stating they want him and then Kane not showing up for training as he was supposedly meant to then that to me only leads to one conclusion which is that Kane stayed away on purpose but it wasn’t agreed. Not to mention his statement which as I said previously was the vaguest, most ambiguous statement ever and clearly designed to absolve him of any blame but didn’t actually do anything to clarify or explain. It was purposely vague so that nothing could be interpreted from it. Too bad for him that most people aren’t macarons and can see through it.

I just can’t reconcile what we would hope to achieve by not saying anything if he truly has done nothing wrong. None of the players have backed him publicly either. Quite the opposite.

Who knows. To your point, we dont know the complete picture. The club havent defended him or make it known via whatever channels that he's been fined. We just dont know, which is why I find the vilification of him on here and other places incredible

It could be that club and players are trying to force the issue into a definitive resolution by the start of the season, but there's a gap in the public knowledge of what has happened and it feels a deliberate gap given how quiet the club has been on this

We don’t know, but we’re experienced enough to read between the lines and figure out what is going on, let’s not be naive here. What did you make of his statement on Friday? Don’t you think it was purposely vague and could have done a lot more to clarify? To me it was designed to absolve him of any blame but didn’t do anything to clear up the situation. And why did he wait four days before putting out any Comms? Just doesn’t come across as someone who is completely in the right.

Agree that it was purposely vague - its supports the possibility that the club and Kane have some form of agreement in what not to say. The club has been silent, even through back channels, and Kane was vague.

I also agree that it was designed to absolve him of blame. He or his team have probably been minotoring social media and will have seen a lot of criticism of him. Hence his statement focussed on the fans, giving all for the club etc etc. But the absence of anything in there directed at the club (e.g. "before leaving for the Bahamas, I agreed with [insert name] that I would return on [date] etc) was evident.

Its not open warfare between club and player (at least publicly), whether due to a legal agreement that they won't say things or, linked to this, because they have some degree of alignment on what is happening.

Whether behind the scenes there is warfare, or just frustration (eg both accept him leaving for £150m but the offer hasnt arrived), or some alignment on the future (eg the events of the last week have been to try to force Emirates Marketing Project to move)....who knows

To me, lots of definitive conclusions are being jumped to from people on here and wider without clarity of what is right. Those conclusions may of course be correct, but the silence and vagueness from club and players suggests a very real probability that those conclusions might be somewhat off

The Euros made that slightly challenging...

Final was on 11th July
Add 3 weeks break is 1st August

How long a break would you like him to have had?
I think I read they like players to have a minimum (this could be contractual for all I know) 3 weeks break, preferably 4.

Of course with the travel situation, it could be argued does the player or club include quarantining as part of that break?

Honestly mate, you are the only person coming to that conclusion

- Kane did his stupid Neville interview - set stage for wanting to leave and City's expected price (fudging criminal behavior for him to be whoring City's evaluation)
- Pep followed that up quickly with "any club should be happy with £100M" (quoting the exact same number Kane did)
- Rumours came from Euros that Kane told his England teammates he wasn't going to come back to Spurs pre-season as protest
- Kane doesn't turn up when expected, while the club hasn't said anything, several of the club mouth pieces have clearly said Kane was expected on Monday 2nd)
- Kane lets it sit for a week, then makes a very vague statement that says "as planned" vs. as agreed
- Pep then basically come out again and says "yes, we are pursuing Kane and it's Spurs that needs to come to the table"
- Kane's camp and Spurs mouth piece media start hinting at new contract story
- Immediately City mouth piece (Sam Lee) posts contradictory story that Kane isn't going to sign new contract is wants to leave now and only wants to play for Pep

How do you look at the above and see vagueness? City and Kane are being disrespectful pieces of brick to the club and fans (you), Spurs is taking the stance of "play with dogs, get fleas" and saying nothing.

Why in Kane's statements has he not said "I'm a Spurs player and until that changes I will honor my contract and commitments"?

Realistically, for whatever reason, he's missed 4 days training, so what?

He's probably done 100 days extra training over his years with us, that HE and US have benefited from.

Lloris went out and got done for drink driving.
Dele plays effing Fortnite all night long
Dier climbs up into the stand
Ndombele wants to leave everytime a new manager or season starts

All lead to missing games, underperforming and ultimately effecting what we can achieve.

Bottom line is Kane wants to leave, he wanted to leave 12 months ago, stayed and had a brilliant season, but still thought this year is the year. He's been a bit simplistic in his approach as the main (and only) thing he needed to know was were City going to be forthcoming with a bid. Everyone knows it would have to be in the £150/160m range. And no actions from Kane will reduce that. He should know Levy by now!

The other element I'd have more sympathy with Kane is if Levy has added the caveat to last season's 'chat' that no bid of any amount will be considered from a Prem team. ie abroad only. That would rile me if he's moved the goalposts.

I can’t defend the Neville interview, particularly the timing of it, and clearly that was aimed at flushing out a city offer. I can’t defend Pep’s comments either. I do think though there are big gaps in what has happened over the last week - Kane’s statement was more conspicuous by what it didn’t say (it was vague as you say) and the club hasn’t said anything official and barely anything unofficial.

In terms of your final point, he doesn’t want to honour his contract and wants to leave. To that point, maybe I’m just a lot more sanguine on this given that I’ve always been very happy for him to leave for £150m. I’d prefer him to stay for another year and leave for £100m, but agree that I’m not as offended as most at his actions

His biggest error is the contract that he signed

Why should the club say anything other than it remains in house?
