When a country elects as PM someone who has publicly expressed racist opinions then it legitimises the open expression of such comments for others within that society.

Re Scara's epic rant (cunningly disguised as player ratings), I did think Sterling was poor last night. He doesn't pass, he doesn't look up, he runs head down into cul-de-sacs, and did so again and again. Kane always looks to bring others into the game, whereas Sterling is the reverse - just my view.

And as Neville pointed out this morning Boris said fans should be allowed to voice their displeasure at the taking the knee then comes out today and (rightly) condemns the racist abuse. He’s a hypocrite.

Congratulations to Italy, well deserved on the end I thought.
Should be no shame in this for England, though some fans (or "fans" if you prefer) are seemingly trying their hardest to bring shame into it.
England lost to a better team in the end. Not a better squad perhaps, not better individuals, but a better team. I think England got a bit overrated before the final, they had a significantly easier run, Germany probably the toughest opposition, and this Germany wasn't even to 5 best teams in the tournament. Italy got past both Belgium and Spain even though they had to dig in for sure.
Chiellini and Bonucci might be 70 years between them, but they're very good, with a very good partnership and all that experience. Verratti and Jorginho are great. Donnarumma quality. Insigne very good, Chiesa a joy and a lot of quality elsewhere too. And they work as a team, as a unit, they can play well in all phases of play really, can't say that about England.
Definitely a positive future there for England. Experience and imo even age is huge at the end of international tournaments, this England side should only get better in years to come.
Think Southgate got it a bit wrong in the final, though to be fair that's probably the first time that can be levelled at him this tournament.

I admit I've never really supported England. From East London, black, nobody around here does. I see myself as more a Londoner than English. To us the St George's Cross just represents' skin head hooligans doing their causal racism and smashing brick up. It's a strange feeling to be apart from everyone, you just feel disconnected, I was born and raised here but I know it's not my home. How can a country that elects a man who is racist claim to be a home for all. I know people who were hoping that none of the black players messed up every game cause they knew what would happen.
Anyway, I had started to warm to this particular team, they all seem decent people and no clams, not the greatest team but likeable. No John Terrys.
Then the final whistle went and it all came back to me why I don't support England or feel English. All the clips of violence and the abuse online.

- The manager is a "fraud" despite taking us to a WC semi and Euros final in succession
- Dier would have done better in midfield (no words on that one really...)

At least this bunch of players turned up for a final, it's probably because as Spurs fans we're not used to seeing that in recent times. Maybe this board would have been more on side if the gaffer broke down in to tears after the semi and took the players walking on hot coals for team building purposes rather than actually preparing for the game. The hindsight specialists acting as if we were absolutely embarrassed making out that it should have been a walk in the park. Jokers.
The gall of suggesting chanting "you've let your country down" to the players when in fact a lot of the "fans" or the "everyone look at me, I'm English and don't support the team how edgy is that?!?!" phalanx could do with telling themselves that very notion.
Credit to the team and all involved, pens sometimes go your way, sometimes they don't. Young team with plenty more bites at the apple to come so there's a lot to look forward to.

It’s hypocritical because I believe he is racist. But even if he isn’t, his comments played right into the hands of the booing racists.
Even if one is of the opinion that taking the knee is the wrong way to express that hatred, just ignore it, why boo people making a gesture to raise a point about racism and injustice.
Choose not to condemn the booing it and it feeds all the vile stuff that came out last night.
