“Davinson I would say is the player most like me in the squad in terms of style, so if I can bring something that can help him further himself, that would be great.”
In hindsight that’s pretty worrying, especially with the fact he can’t understand for the life of him why Dier wasn’t picked and feels he’s the leader England needs

so, not wanting to play devils advocate but...
if keeping King and Mason as backroom staff over bringing Conte and his own team in...
why are we keeping King and Mason? We're talking about one of the best managers in the modern game with 7 titles in 9 seasons across 3 different clubs and 2 countries (and some domestic cups too).
Sure i'd love to keep King and Mason around but what if they're deadweights? What if they will never make the grade? Sure for romanticism it's a nice story but football is a results business and surely we want the best in the business at the helm no?
Personally think it's a story sold that way, when in reality there were far more differences between Conte and Levy than just the backroom coaching team, but sorry, i want to win things, not have ex-players with roles so we can say "oh that's nice" and continually win fudge all.

According to ally gold king and mason will stay at the club but not as a part of fonsecas backroom staff. King hasn't done his coaching badges yet and mason is going back to his role with the academy.

His title was "First Team Assistant" . I think it was/is a more general role, to get him accustomed to the coaching side of things. From the official announcement :
"We are delighted to announce the appointment of Ledley King as First Team Assistant.
Ledley will join as a member of our first team staff, working alongside the coaches, analysts and playing squad both at the Training Centre and on matchdays. He will also take on the role of supporting our academy players as they look to step up to the first team."
So nothing so specific as coaching the defence.

Well my assumption is that while King was assistant coach, we served up some of the worst performances I’ve seen on individual and collective levels.
I’ve no reason to long for him to assist the new manager
He's on work experience. He isn't choosing tactics or formations. We'll be having a defensive coach coming in.

Well, glad you recognize I don't want Fonseca to fail, at least. You're wrong about the opportunity to say 'I told you so', though - because I don't think I've ever said it here, or anywhere, to a fellow Spurs fan.
Why would I? I hurt when we lose, when we fail, as we have so often under Levy and ENIC. You hurt in the same ways. We all do. So why would I try to make the point to people who are pained by failure as much as I am, about the same thing I care about, that they were also wrong to believe it would turn out differently?
Like I said, it just makes me even less inclined to cut Lewis and Levy any slack. Their transparent disregard for the club, the fact they don't care, it hurts Spurs fans - the folks on this forum, and elsewhere. @parklane1 , yourself, everyone, whether or not you agree with me.
All I tend to say is that I hope more people come over to my point of view over time, as it becomes clearer what Levy and Lewis really care about - their money, not us. I still maintain that hope, and I don't hold it against anyone for disagreeing with me.
A better future's possible - a future with owners who care, who want us to succeed where it matters - on the field, not in the 'best balance sheet' awards. Who instill a winning culture, and do whatever it takes to win.
There's a world where a boyhood Spurs fan who went through our academy and became one of England's greatest strikers doesn't want to leave because this club and these owners can't fulfill his ambitions of winning trophies. All he wanted to do was win with us - Levy and Lewis wrung that dream dry until he now wants to go to City, to Chelsea, anywhere else, to win the things he wanted to win more than anything else, with Spurs.
It's probably too late to prevent that happening. But we can ensure that Dane Scarlett, or the next wide-eyed kid from our academy, doesn't get put through the same thing, by building a better club where winning matters.

Everything is a wrong decision and some further validation of bald man bad, the level of bitterness would be hilarious if it wasn't so tiresome.
But say anything and you are a ENIC/Levy supporter, while them, the "true supporters" take every fudging opportunity to brick on the thing they claim to love.

With out knowing what the manager had told individual players to do in a game it's hard to say if he has been as bad as you say and whether the players have been able to follow instructions due to others failing in their covering duties. I believe defences perform better as a unit when they play together regularly unlike the shotgun approach of selection favoured by Mourhino and the current stupid fab of rotation.
Surely that’s like saying we can’t criticise Jose because we don’t know what he told the players to do though......?
As a coach who was quoted as saying he was relishing working with Tanganga and Sanchez (the latter who had an atrocious season, and Tanganga who has all the hallmarks of being a brilliant player yet didn’t get a look in) plus thinking that Dier had a good season and is a leader, I don’t think King should be coaching our first team yet.
Legend status, and Jose’s management aside, I saw nothing really except half a season of players who couldn’t trap a ball, pass a ball, defend, attack or keep possession for four passes.
As a first team coach, he takes a huge amount of flak.

How many semi-finals and finals and other opportunities, for Spurs and England, has Harry appeared in and lost? Has Harry appeared in and then underperformed? This narrative that he hasn't had an opportunity to win with Spurs is revisionist BS and should stop.
We had a squad good enough to get to the final or last man standing situations but when they fail to get across the line that is ENIC/Levy's fault. We should have had MORE opportunities IMO but it isn't like there have been NO opportunities in the last decade.
