Next Manager?

Where does that leave a team that is need of a rebuild? Even if managers are short term we still need a manager to do the donkey work before we appoint a 'winner', imo

A short term manager is IMO the worse kind for us unless we plan on really spending
That can only happen with ENIC putting money in or selling part of the club
Neither have looked likely in their tenure

But any manager could potentially end up being short term, no? I really don’t get the logic of people saying we’re not ready to hire a proven winner (who happens to be one of the best in the world right now and is available). What are we waiting for? And when?

In any case Conte will no doubt have plenty of options so I probably shouldn’t be getting my hopes up.

I can't believe things might actually be falling into place for Poch's return.

I've been talking myself into Lopetegui or Potter for weeks because I didn't dare to believe...

This is from someone on SC

As you will have seen, I had info to say Conte was leaving Inter weeks ago. I just asked my guy for an update, he won't give me his source but said the following....

- Madrid want to speak to Conte but his preference is Spurs

- Conte apparently has Levy where he wants and is confident he will get the job

- Conte trying to push through one more demand which is a decent transfer budget to spend (amount told was £200m)

I asked what confidence he had in Conte being our next manager and he said 8/10.

I will say it again, I am passing on in good faith from a very good friend who has always had very solid info. He has no reason to pull my leg and told me about Conte and all the issues there weeks ago. We have all had a lovely bet come in from him leaving today.

It may look like I'm jumping on the bandwagon but I'm not, if you look back, I mentioned him leaving weeks ago.

People really do have wild imaginations.

Hmm. Seems like it'd be very easy for people there to check if he really did talk about Conte weeks ago.

Want Poch but I think Conte would be a great appointment. Very good manager and if we gave him 200m to spend, I'd be interested to see who he'd get in.

He seems like he doesn't give two fudges what people think of him so I'd imagine he'd have no issue culling some of the deadwood if Levy doesn't insist on silly money.

Some are also speculating/claiming that Paratici from Juve will also come in alongside Conte.
That's a bold shout considering the history. Though who knows what the actual relationship between the two was like

Has to be linked with Conte if true and their relationship has to be good, otherwise what's the point?

An interesting element in this game of managerial musical chairs is that UEFA are looking at banning Real, Barca and Juve from Champions League next season as punishment for refusing to let go of the Super League concept.

Some managers might view that ban as reason to avoid going to those clubs, others would look at it as a way of gaining time to rebuild under less pressure. Certainly all three have some decent players but need thorough rebuilds and are hurting for immediate funds to finance that.

With Spurs, there's a decent set of components already in place to work with and a chairman eager to set things back in order with fans and probably willing to spend, perhaps even generously if it means keeping Kane and Son happy and on board. I can see the appeal for Conte to come here, especially as he's been aware for some time of Inter's intention to slash spending and sell players.

I thought for a long while now that the Poch deal was in the works. The romantic aspect of bringing him back to finish unfinished business and how it might mellow fans attitudes towards the club make it a no-brainer for Levy. Now? If Conte is willing, he's worth considering given his very relevant track record.

To be fair, i have just searched and the same guy said this on the 6th of May

I get bits of info from time to time, I have no idea who the new manager will be the same as everyone else but I've been told Conte has had a huge falling out with the Inter hierarchy and will be leaving this summer. Would tie in nicely with us appointing at the end of the season. Could mean absolutely nothing but he's a top manager and has done a great job at Inter. He also did a fantastic job at Chelsea.

But. . . . .

Antonio Conte to 'leave Inter Milan in summer' with Man Utd and Tottenham as next options | Football | Sport | Express.co.uk

That was the express reporting something similar on the 24th of March.

It's why Conte stopped attending pre-match press conferences for the last few games of the season.

Waiting for the big clubs to all sack their managers will at least save us a decent sum from not having to buy out any contracts.

So last minute managers and players ... we are building for success and trying our hardest even though everyteam out there with smaller budgets seem to crack on. Not buying it anymore.

Levy dare not do it again ... he probably will. Pulling the wool over everyone's eyes yet again loool

Are we willing to give Conte the support he requires? If not don't waste both parties time. He comes in here, doesn't get the support he needs then is lampooned for being washed up after he declares the low quality of fans favorites in the team.

It's going to be the case no matter who comes in I'm afraid with Levy hoping by luck that it works.

We will buy ten players of average ability hoping that one will smash it for a huge fee in the future. Spending 100m on players that the manager doesn't want while telling the fans how much we have reinvested into the squad.

Guess it depends if Conte comes in saying what an amazing squad they all are, in the first place, manages to add nothing of value to them as a coach, and then turns and starts throwing them under the bus when his antediluvian tactics start to fall apart at the seams.

You just won't give up the Jose love-in will you?

Clearly Jose said that he can work with the team but would need a world class CB. And to be fair throw Diaz into the team without dier getting a sniff .... we had a chance of CL football and a cup.
