Next Manager?

I think he'll need to do something at a higher level (e.g. mid-table EPL first). The last thing they will want is to be stuck in an OGS or Lampard loop

I dont think so. Its Gerrard and Liverpool it's going to happen sooner rather than later ... I can't wait

Because OSG is working out so badly for them at the moment? 2nd in the league and a European Final. I know United fans have high expectations but in reality that is as good as it will get in a City dominated league for most seasons.

And Poch shouldn't come back ... yet.

Too soon for everyone.

United have the highest wages and I believe the most expensive squad in the PL (may have changed with Chelsea's last spree)

Your statement (it's as good as it gets) is exactly the issue, for their profile and spending they have to be challenging, and they are not.

OGS is a rudderless appointment from a board that doesn't have the balls to make decisions (right now they should fire him, say thank you and go for Conte, Allegri, someone who can actually make them give City a run)

He's the modern Mourinho. An absolute winner but he doesn't particularly play attractive football and he absolutely does not take any flimflam from a board re backing. He will scream and shout in the press if he doesn't get his own way.

I can't think of a less suited manager for Daniel Levy than Conte. A literal marriage made in hell. If Levy has any sense he wouldn't even try to appoint Conte. Not that I think Conte would take the job, he would be aware of the limitations and his requirements.

Conte would have a lot of upsides, but in reality

- He would not be a long term appointment, do we really want another 24 month manager?
- He is not someone that will be universally liked or get fans on his side, he will alienate players as well
- He will want players for now (older, less sell on value, etc.)

He's back to the kind of appointment you make if the only goal is to win a trophy now (last one didn't work out).

Said it above, he's the type of manager United should be firing OGS for.

Agree with all of that but still Conte would top the list of managers we’ve been linked to by a long way in my view. Maybe we need to think short term given Kane seems to be ready to give up on us. Conte might convince him to stay. Plus Conte would hardly join us in the first place unless he had some guarantee that Kane was staying.
Probably pie in the sky anyway since the impression is Conte would be too abrasive for Levy.

Does he bring Eriksen with him?

Apparently they are selling Lukaku because they are skint and think they can get 75m for him. No wonder Conte wants out. It's sad when teams like them and Lille manage to win the league then have to lose everyone and start again due to finances.

*Not that I rate Lukaku in any way
