Daniel Levy - Chairman

Those clubs would not have pulled out if they weren't sitting on bottomless pits of money.

Neither of those clubs need to make profits - one is a money/reputation washing machine, the other is just part of a dingdong waving contest. Neither of those goals work particularly well with masses of overfed, undereducated gammons shouting outside the ground.

Real clubs, however, require the pursuit of on and off-field success. This is entirely unaffected by such trivial nonsense.

Isn't it fortunate then, that we're not relying on Levy playing professional football (something I'm in no doubt he'd be universally terrible at).
TBF I think levy may have out more effort in at the Effeminates this season than most of our players did

We don't actually need to make a profit either. That's a path we have chosen to follow.

Yes but he has an active role in the football side of the things when he should really take a step back and let people who know the game take over. He seems like a very hands on type of person but it’s not unkind to say the football side of the equation isn’t his area of expertise. Especially when it comes to picking managers, as evidenced in the Amazon show where he states “there are two top, top managers in the game, one is Jose, the other is at another premier league club” (can only assume he is referring to Guardiola or Klopp). The fact that he still thinks Jose is a top, top manager is slightly worrying to say the least, although I’d imagine he has a different take on this now :D picking the manager is arguably the most important aspect of building or rebuilding the club along with getting the recruitment side of things right, he’s also shown when he meddles in this area that he gets it wrong (Sissoko). We need a DOF who can get on with transfers and selecting the right manager so Levy can focus on what he excels at; the business side of things.

Why wouldn’t he think Jose was still a top manager?
He won two cups at United and the league at Chelsea. All during Pochs reign here

If you watched the context of those events did you actually think he was still one of the top two managers in the game? Really?

Hes been on a downward slope since his spell at Madrid which I've said a few times changed him. Yes he did well to win the league with Chelsea but the 3rd season said a lot as did his spell at United.

Him even considering Spurs said where his standing as a manager had fallen too. It's just a shame Levy still thought it was 2009.

Well
Who has done better in that time trophy wise?
Klopp has only won two trophies in the same period
I don’t think it was unreasonable to expect him to come here and deliver a trophy or two
And that would have been the expectation IMO
United IMO haven’t looked better despite more investment. Their getting second this season by standing still which shows how the league has declined this season
Chelsea won the league the year after he left with basically his team (trying this time) so maybe there is hope for us
But I never wanted him here in the frost place and would have preferred to have kept Poch
But if we’re sacking him then it made sense for levy to go for a amanger he rated so highly. It’s his job to makes those big calls and he won’t always get them right

I disagree that United haven't looked better. They look a far better attacking outfit and the team seems on the same page unlike under Jose. A lot of that might be attributable to the arrival of Fernandes but they were playing better if still inconsistent football even before he signed.

For me Jose was never a good fit because we are unlike any of his previously successful sides. We weren't a side already used to win trophies nor the most dominant financially. It could only be a good fit if the "new Mourinho" was a reality. Even then there was nothing to suggest that version of Mourinho could be successful.

If we had a director of football we would maximise our spending potential.

Loaning out youth players so we could get a better gauge of their standard, if good enough we save money on signings and if not you can usually sell on for a bit of money.

Bringing through a couple of youngsters a year would make the ones with more ability sign pro contracts rather then move elsewhere for a pathway to the first team.

I think the future is quite bright.

transfer committee, DOF - the way the club has handled transfers has not helped the manager. the biggest improvement we can make is in this area. I only hope its not a case of "the emperor has no clothes" with Levy.

Chelsea are good at winning the league, they won after he left too. He did well to win the two cups at United but they were nowhere near the biggest trophies which is why he was hired.

As others have said, the game moves on and evolves. Most managers get left behind, Jose hasn’t changed his approach to tactics or how he treats players. Football is cyclical so maybe the top teams will eventually adopt a more conservative approach again but for the last 5 years or so, the top teams mostly play an attacking brand of football. Not many teams still employ Jose’s negative park the bus tactics.

He may still be able to nick the odd cup here and there but I don’t see him getting a top job at one of the big clubs in Europe as he’s not the great manager he once was, I don’t think it’s even debatable that he’s not an elite manager anymore.

Those cups that were no where near the top were of course two cups that United haven’t got near to winning since
And I’m not saying he is an elite manager still
But i get why he was appointed

Before Levy tookover, Spurs had played in 16 cup finals and won 14 from 1900 - 1999.

Since Levy tookover we have played in 6 cup finals and won 1.

We have now failed to score, let alone win, in our past 4 cup finals.

Spurs's "sexy" cup final record under Levy:

P6 W1 L5 F3 A8

I literally don't care any more, yes he is better than Sugar, no doubt, but f@cking ell it is nothing but humiliation trophy wise. This our most barren trophy period since 1921-1950, some 70 years ago.

I literally defended him to hills, even during the 2003-04, 2008 collapse, Redknapp sacking and 2013/14 debacles. But now sick of the sight of him.

We lost to one of the top 3 if not the top team in the world. Get a grip

You're right. Levy should definitely have scored some of the chances we had in those finals. And cut out some of the defensive mistakes that led to us conceding goals in the matches.

Yep, that’s definitely the sort of thing you can level at the chairman!

We haven't scored a goal in four cup finals. I did not expect to win today, City are on fire at the moment and deserved their win, should've been 3 or more. Our Cup final record is appalling and the worst in the club's history.

I don't think ENIC selling up is wholly the answer, look at Villa when Doug Ellis sold up, had a bit of cheer with O'Neil and then fell off a cliff, aka be careful what you wish for. But this is misery and fed up of it.

For me screaming about Levy is not gonn get anywhere. Talking to Pro-Levy supporters is like telling home owners that the housing market is madness and sees an economy which relies on house prices doubling every other year. They know it's true but they're content with it and don't want to know.
