Very pleased for Ryan and also pleased for ourselves that we won.

Note the vast majority of the 'narrative' of that game was down to Soton - they were sprinting like crazy for the first 50 mins, we could hardly take a step without 4 players hunting us down

It's no wonder we couldn't string anything together

They they completely gassed out and we could play. The end.

he's developed a habit of getting the ball in space and standing still until an opponent arrives

I hate to think the stick he would get if he was left footed

Lovely ball in build up to first goal, I thought everyone held on to the ball too long in first half but movement was better in second half. Team looked short of confidence, this win will do them good, unlike many I dont see Sundays game as a forgone conclusion, it's a one off game and anything can happen on the day if we play well. There no point getting up in the morning if you dont believe in yourself.

Concise and precise.

All modern football is now a war of attrition. Grind away at the wrong 'uns until something breaks down and creates a chance. We took ours well today, other than Moura's rugby convert from in close late in the first half.

Yeah they were flying into tackles, looked like they thought we had one eye on cup final.

A game of two halves. We were so poor in the first half but that comes of having too many lightweight players. We have lacked a spine for a long time. Reggi, LoCelso, Lucas, Son and NDummy get knocked off the ball far far too easily. Thank goodness Ings went off and Soton tired.

Always nice to win a game with a last minute pen for a change. I still don't understand why the clear handball immediately prior to that wasn't given. Seemed nailed on to me.

I didn’t think it was, deflected onto his hand from close range.

Same here. Arm slightly away from body, ball hits it, penalty.

I'm still bitter about the ridiculous penalty given against Dier when it hit his arm behind his back. I know the guidance has been changed since then (fat lot of good it's done us), but I'm pretty damn sure a pen would have been given for handball first if we were ManU or Liverpool.

No one really knows what a hand ball is anymore, I'm pretty sure they just flip a coin at VARland after shrugging their shoulders.

Anyways, great to see us claw a win from losing circumstances as opposed to clawing a draw / loss from a winning one. Lovely to see the team putting effort in for Ryan even if it wasn't a perfect performance.

Was also nice to see us keep the ball a bit more tonight and have some ambition inthe second half. 62% possession at home against a lower half team should be normal!

We have enough good ball players that we should be able to dominate lots of teams, and should pick up a decent number of points over the remainder of the season. I'm still not sure what the right balance is for us in attack but we have some decent options, and even with Dele not getting off the bench!
