That Bale goal and performance alone makes me happy Jose went. Remember Bale had been in great form , played poorly against Arsenal ( as they all did) and didn't start a game again under Mourinho. That was all about Mourinhos ego, probably because he didn't want him in the first place.

I love him, it was a great finish, but he was still pretty lazy in the first half, that's a long way from the performances I expect from him.

Such quality for his goal, to curl it through that gap. Few more of those on Sunday.

It’s not about Mourinho, it’s about the players. We don’t have a good enough squad to compete at the top, nothing tonight changed that. We were poor for long periods, with a few decent pieces of play within the 90 minutes and thankfully Soton tired massively....

I don't think we have the best squad, but I do think the ones that want wholesale changes are overreacting a bit. With the right coach and some time, a lot of these players can do so so much better than they have for these past 19 months, in my opinion. Time will tell though!

I also don’t think he did any less defensively than Son. He’s a different class on the ball.

That's only his 3rd in his last 16 games. As the original point, he's brilliant during his purple and does nothing outside of it. He's done nothing tonight besides score the pen.
Is your glass ever even close to being half full?

He's one of our own, he's one of our own, Ryan Mason, he's one of our own.

Despite what I really think, I'm dreaming of Ryan being the man to carry us to the glory Poch was just shy of. Would restore all my faith in professional football.

I can dream for the next few days anyway.
