European Super League - Dead on arrival

It's hilarious listening to Carragher and Neville issuing a call-to-arms

They probably realise that if this goes ahead Sky won’t have any big games so it might finish them off. Could actually have quite a big impact on Sky’s subscriber base if games are streamed and the big 6 either wothdraw from the PL or field weakened teams

It’s has a massive impact
Sky would effectively be able to reduce their payments to the league and all the other clubs would get much less money

The idea for the sides other than city and PSG is that they would have as much money to do more with negating their advantage
It’s what’s been hurting the Italian sides for so long, knowing that West Ham could out bid them for a playyer yet most global fans dont even know where West Ham are from...
I also think they will significantly reduce ticket prices to get fans to buy into it
It’s a reverse trick as fans are needed to make the spectacle happen

I also believe they mean what they say. Proper football men who have won the big prizes and realise the ESL is an awful concept.

I'm sure it has been covered, but what happens in this scenario.

The 5 teams that qualify into this League all finish above the founding 15 teams? Who then gets 'relegated'?

that 5, but it’s not relegation, it’s the end of their guest appearance on the show

One of the best things I've seen said on this affair was from Patrick Bamford tonight when he opined that it was a shame people didn't get this heated up about other issues like racism.

Imagine if Sky and their furies had been marshalled to make such hefty emotional protest, such big promises of not shutting up, about racism within the game. If UEFA and other bodies had tripped over themselves to promise swift action.

To say nothing of the broader point of how people are so concerned about a change in their entertainment when there's so much more that is worthy of concern and attention

Sky released a statement saying they've not been involved in any discussions with the Super League.
Which formalises their professional objection to all of Derp

They know the broadcasting for it is planned to all be streaming. They know that Google are rumoured to be involved.
Sky can see they are going to be blown away by the real big boys.
That's why they have given Neville and Carragher licence to go on the attack.
Every ex player can see the trophies and titles they won being devalued in front of their eyes.
In 20 years it will about be about Super League records and how many Super League titles they won.

There is SO MUCH to come with all of this. Lots of posturing and brinksmanship. The thing that gets me are the "soul of football gone" voices. Realistically, that soul was dying for decades. Look at the Prem. Look around.

I think this is ugly and vulgar, but much in today's society is.

The main question becomes will you stop supporting/watching THFC? I wish my principles were strong enough to overcome my addiction. They weren't in '92 and they won't be now. Sad but true.

Kids stab each other in London over trainer's. The world is mad.

I will give up custard before I give up Tottenham.

To be honest. I've never been as bored with football as I have been in the last year.
I barely watched anything beyond Tottenham and Ireland.
I couldn't care less which of the other teams won the league.
With any Super League at least it will be different for a few seasons.

The whole sporting merit thing is nonsense. There is no sporting merit in the current system.
It's a myth people buy into like the American dream.

There's your mistake...same as mine. That will have the happiest c**t reaching for the Prozac.

No, there's @Baleforce too.

There's me. As a pro sports photog, I would love to see the local clubs all featuring and hosting the best players in the world, rather than no-name Brand-X dusters from Farmingtown Albion. Super League would offer us a much more consistent supply of marketable images and the sale commissions that come with them.
