European Super League - Dead on arrival

Has it been propsed how the 5 would teams would qualify?if the founder members are guaranteed no relegation how do 5 teams qualify each year do they qualify, have a year in it then get replaced the following season?

It'll be by invitation

Looks pretty rushed and amateur for the elite of the elite. There must be some desperate clubs out there. These massive clubs like United, RM must be rolly fudged, us too. Losing 4-5m a game in our case is a huge percentage of our turnover. Anyone know approximately what percentage of turnover we've lost? 40 to 60%? That is seismic for any company. And the larger you are, the harder you fall.

Quite a small web design agency by the looks of it.

To be honest i feel the same way, over the last 12 hours or so i have spoken to a lot of guy who are S/T holders and have been for many years and they all said its the final straw if it goes through. Who once said they used to be a game over there.:(
Flipping hell.

It’ll be a different code of the game and not one I grew up playing so I couldn’t give a rats arse.
I grew up in the 90's , first game I went to was in the 1990/1991 season and have memories of the FA Cup Semi and final that season. Glad I got to enjoy football for at least a little bit before the madness set in.

What about clubs like Bournemouth ? They were on the brink of Non League got to the prem stayed there for a while. There has to be the possibility of movement.

It’s a horrible idea. And I hope the domestic leagues rightly get it stamped out. Joel Glazer and Woodward and JP Morgan are the architects disgusting to think these entity’s are trying to do Derp It’s about Money more and more Money.

Who will pay for it ultimately ? Us . Expensive subscriptions already exist it will get worse. PPV games it’s all coming if this goes through.

Spurs fans have sneered at the likes of City and Chelsea and their doped clubs skewing the league. But it’s ok now to do the same to feather our nest and dance on the rest of the English leagues by joining the ESL cartel.

How would the ESL stop that kind of movement? Did bournemouth ever challenge for the Premier league or for European places regularly? I'm not saying that's right, I'm just saying that the ESL won't change anything in the context of the football pyramid. Teams will still go up and down within the leagues, better teams will still poach players from teams beneath them (league 2 to league 1 not just championship to Premier league), new clubs will still get into the ESL etc

And IMO since the '92 season, its been about money, and we all moaned when Alan Sugar ballsed it up for us when he didn't spend on those early days... so yes, we all want to pretend that this change is abhorrent, but it's the likes of Everton and Villa and Leicester who should be feeling that, not us....I don't care about them personally, I want to be able to see my team play against the best in the world

But, and it's a big but, I actually watch a lot of youth football, so I'm still hopeful of seeing players come through our youth set up - like kane and skipp for us, foden for city, mount for chelski, saka for scum, rashford for united etc. So long as that still happens, I'm at peace with this

That'll still happen. And if valuations go up, then youth players become worth more. I'd prefer it if the ESL didnt happen, but it is and therefore better to be on the inside rather than outside

From a purely selfish perspective wouldn't it be intriguing to watch us againt the best players in the world on a regular basis?

From a sporting perspective, and from an ethical perspective it obviously stinks. However, there is a logic for the best teams playing fewer games with more high-quality contests, as well as clubs being able to steam and sell some of their own games.

'Football' is not just the game is it? It is not just the 90 minutes of kicking a leather ball about (what are balls made of these days?). What keeps us all posting here is mainly the soap opera; all the stuff around the play on the pitch. This falls into the soap opera for me. I'm not too worried either way, and things always (should) change and get reinvented. It may happen it may not, but we're in for the ride.

This will dilute the quality of the premier league and will have an effect on all the clubs below. It will change the money in the English game.

The movement thing is more in terms of the ESL itself that closed shop monopoly is rubbish. Not saying it’s happens a lot but there needs to be a route from the pyramid to get to the top of the game via top four then onto European football which will be destroyed. Not by invite only that’s just rubbish.

I'm not sure why this would effect me going to WHL... I've been a season ticket holder for 30 years. I was considering not renewing this season because of mourinho, now he's gone, happy days, I'm back baby!!

I go to games with my dad and my son, as soon as we decide we don't enjoy a few hours of the weekend together any more, I'll keep going to spurs, especially if the alternative is bloody egg chasing

How will it dilute it... the best players are being snapped up by the big 6 each season already

Mahrez and kante left a PL winning team
Maguire, Mane, Hojbjerg, Bale, van dijk plus many many more already left good PL clubs to join the big six without ESL

Not for me i am afraid to say, i am a old fart i know but i have seen enough changes to our game over the years that have ruined what used to be the best sport around. Played it into my 40s and worked in it for many years, traveled all over this and many countrys abroad watching Spurs and to be real honest my love is fading for it. We shall see i guess but i really hope that our club grow some balls and pull out of this.

According to premier league rules clubs join a super league they will be removed from the league. That will do it.

Are you confident that if we pulled out that we could survive given our revenues would fall substantially due to lower TV money etc?
