The thing is, with transfers we don’t purposely go out to buy duds, we purchased two players who signed for big fees from PSG, the difference is they are a club who can sign duds and move them on, Emirates Marketing Project have a history of signing duds but again can move them on and sign coverage.

No such thing as a guaranteed success, many times it’s the signings you least expect that make the biggest impressions.

Ultimately any banner flown is embarrassing

I loved Poch too, everything about him. He did so much for us in a testing time, a stadium rebuild brings so much disruption through finances, lack of a home ground, uprooted supporters but we sailed thru that because of what he served up on the pitch. We'll never know how hard it was to navigate that course because he made it look like it was easy, in his eyes the good times just meant getting the 11 on the pitch to play beautifully, f.ck the distractions.

Even when it started to go wrong, we still made top 4 and a CL final.

Looking back though it is slightly bizarre why he left (sacked, whatever) when he did?
If it was backing, squad refresh he wanted, that's what last summer was the beginning of. We were holed below the waterline but had limped into port and the new shipmates were waiting. Wasn't this what he was waiting for? It must of been the damage to the captain himself (Poch) that was less repairable? And I think it might of been less why it fell apart, but how it fell apart, that really took its toll on the man. It seams implausible but the group fell out if love with him (or at least his ways)? And Poch being the character he is, really took that badly.

And that is so annoying because WE HAD reached the other side...the land of money...the land of new shipmates...the land of the new WHL..wasnt this what we (and Poch) wanted all along. We hadn't (understandebly) wrecked ourselves on the rocks getting there, we'd effing made it.

I won't however disturb your reverie over the good times - even though I disagree with you on how (and why) it ended - although you did at least allude to it with your comments on how bizarre it was.

I’m not sure any of us could have foreseen just how difficult and uncertain this season would end up being both on and off the pitch. We were one of the highest Premier League net spenders, investing in excess of £130m bringing in new players and we welcomed José and his management team in November 2019. Before we had time to settle and see what our new signings and the team could deliver, injuries to several principal players beset us, followed quickly by the outbreak of the pandemic.
Football took a backseat as we supported those most in need. It has been testament to human nature and spirit that everyone has adapted and persevered and the importance of community, always in our Club’s DNA, came to the fore.
It was simply heartbreaking to make a return to football in June and to see our screens filled with the faces of loved ones who lost their lives to this cruel virus.

We have had bumps in the road this season on the pitch – as have many other top clubs at different times – it was our turn this season. Being competitive at the top of the game raises the challenge of delivering further improvements year on year and meeting the high expectations we all now have. We have certainly not seen the performances and results we all wanted at times and I know José and his coaches will be working with us in the coming months to ensure we hit the ground running for the start of next season. One thing you can be assured of is the continuing ambition of everyone at this Club for success on the pitch. Right now, we shall be playing until the last minute of this season to achieve the best possible finish and hopefully a European spot.

Today sees our last home game of a season for the first time ever without any supporters in the stadium and it has been so evident how much the team has missed the “12th player”. I have been part of the Premier League Club Advisory Group working with the Department of Culture, Media and Sport to ensure our game comes back stronger than ever with fans in attendance.

Our players will give you their thanks for your support on N17 Live rather than the traditional walk around – please watch as they do. Your support through these extraordinary times has been amazing and we want to pay tribute to that.

During the summer we shall be re-opening Stadium Tours and launching the brand new ‘Dare Skywalk’ attraction. It will be good to see fans and visitors back once again and activity returning to the stadium and leisure sector.

I wish you and your families well over the summer break – a shorter break than usual as, all being well, we look forward to welcoming you back in September.

As if that was likely. Levy got his excuses in well before COVID had even taken hold - remember 'there's a pandemic on and people are talking about transfers like nothing's changed?'

Any hope that we'd do anything to back Mourinho probably died right then for a lot of folks. This stuff just reinforces it.

We've seen this story, we know how it ends - it ultimately ended the same way for every one of Levy's managers left to dry.

We spent £130 mill,well we didn’t buy anyone for two years,so £43 mill for the last three seasons,with top 4 for the last few years,last year being in the final,46k season ticket holders,£90 home tickets,or £150+ if you want a free programme and a slice a cake,in the posh stand.
One thing about this virus is another hook to cling onto for a few years to hide behind.
Same as same as.......
Just to say don’t expect Man bricky type of spending but let’s be pro active like Leicester and Wolves have been,because at the moment they are above us.
