Transfer Tittle-Tattle

I tend to look at other teams forums when I like the look of a player as MOTD highlights or a few games do not tell a story (some of the other fans views of our players amazes me) - Watford fans think he is dogturd, I would go with their view.

His technique generally is. But pace and power. Moreover he actually has some technical ability, but doesn’t seem to put it together. Buying low when there is potential isn’t a bad move imo. Would cost peanuts and poch might turn him into someone. Worth a gamble

Think about the stick that Sissoko has had due to not being a silky skilful footballer... Now take Sissoko’s skill level and divide it by 10. I think our crowd would kill his confidence within a month.

I don't know who the right striker signing is, but I'm not convinced by Mitrovic.

Its "no" striker signing.

Sign a quality AM, and use Son as Kanes cover.

He has proven the to be the best we have, he really works well in the role. Better than Jansen, better than Llorente and 99% likely better than anyone we buy and then leave on the bench for months at a time.

Buy a quality AM, and allow for some rotation/flexibility across all the front positions.

Conversely, look at how good Sissoko is now, and Poch got to work with him at 27, Success is only 21?

This one just wont go away will it?

Had it in my head he was older than that.

AVB TO CELTIC?

Former Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has emerged as a surprise contender to be Celtic's manager next season, according to the Daily Record.

Villas-Boas has been without a club since he left Shanghai SIPG in November 2017.

WEIGL WANTS OUT

Julian Weigl wants to leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season, reports Bild.

The 23-year-old Germany international, who was linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain in January, has struggled to nail down a regular first team spot at the Westfalenstadion.

BRANDT COY ON LEVERKUSEN FUTURE

Julian Brandt has refused to rule out leaving Bayer Leverkusen this summer, reports Bild.

“We’ll play the season to the end and see where we and the club stand,” the Germany international said.

The 22-year-old has been linked with a summer move to Liverpool.

JAMES’ FUTURE UP IN THE AIR

Niko Kovac will make the decision as to whether Bayern Munich will sign James Rodriguez this summer, reports Bild.

The Croatian coach is not a huge supporter of the on-loan Real Madrid playmaker and is expected to send him back to the Bernabeu.

Marca, meanwhile, claim James will be sold if he returns to Real. The Colombia international is on Juventus’ radar and is thought to prefer a move Turin over the Premier League.

I think Mitrovic is a decent player and is a handful for opposing players but i do not think he would be happy with being a back up for when Kane is out of the team, imo he is a better player then that.

He is but if he is good enough he could get a lot of game time here

The reason Llorente doesn’t is that he hasn’t had enough impact in games in reality to change anyone’s
perception of him as a big lump who cant run

I can't dance with you about Mitrovic, as for Llorente we really did not play to his strengths often enough really ( which was unfair on him imo).

Agree. I'd see Mitro as a genuine first teamer pushing for game time. Have never really got that feel from Jansen or Llorente.

Llorentes strengths though are not ours
We work hard and play the ball normally on the deck
He is static and needs higher balls
He is clearly a good player but the wrong type for us
Someone like Mitrovic would scare the opposition just by being on the pitch

John McGinn is still out shining him in that midfield though. McGinn is likely to be PFA player of the month for March.

I like McGinn, never seems to play badly. You can buy what you can see, but sometimes you need to speculate a little. Grealish for me could kick on into something special.

Biggest issue with him, IMO, is his temperament.

At Saudi Sportswashing Machine he was clearly a nutter. Angry/aggressive and completely lacking discipline.

At Fulham he is much improved, but, IMO, because he is clearly the main man and Jokanovic made sure he knew it (seems to have dropped form since he left).

At Spurs what would he be? A substitute.

No matter how well he played in training he would be on the bench whenever Kane was fit, and would be getting on the field only as a late sub to rest him. Up until Christmas his only starts would be early cup games.

Given what we know of him, what makes anyone think he would be cool with that? And what are the chances he will simply lose his brick and go back to being a temperamental mental case?

As a player, I like him. His movement is good, his workrate is good and he does know where the goal is. Though I also think he needs a lot of work. He is a very instinctive player, needs more method to his play to be a reliable goal scorer. And he needs to learn the discipline to keep a level head and play smart = Im yet to see any real control/intelligence in his performances - he is clearly a very emotive character and this plays into his performances (for better and worse).

So his form is very up and down.

As a player, is that what we need? I dont think so. I think, honestly, he would be more work than he is worth, and I also think we are not the club for him - its not a move that would work well for either party. His next move needs to be a decent club where he will get a lot of football, and hopefully grow as a player. That wont be us.

Im still yet to be convinced of anything other than accepting Son as our defacto back up. He has proven beyond all doubt he does very well in that position. Were we to get another AM we could put him forward without any consequence in the team. We just need that depth at AM to accommodate.

Use him as backup, and bring someone (Sterling?) through from the academy to see what we can make of them - so far its the one that makes most sense to me.

Son gets enough games to always be sharp, and rotating him forward also means our AMs get enough games to remain sharp = none are just sat on the bench for months at a time.

And we have room to try and develop a young player who will naturally be happy with a bit part role, or at least much more so than a full pro catching splinters...
