Not really complaining but without away goals the 2nd home side get a huge advantage
When they finally get rid of the away goals rule (which I think is a good idea really), we are the first team to suffer from it. That's rather typical, just like when we finished 4th a few years ago, and lost out of Champions League next season. Then they changed the rule afterwards and we were only ever victims of that rule.

Guess not when you put it like that.

I think it always seems like to me as the QF and SF are either side of the busy Christmas period. So the teams still in get less of a rest before/after.

Saying that: we only lost because of the amount of players missing. Very unlucky.

Yeah, the timing of the matches is poor and personally I don't see the need for a 2 legged semi. Do away with it and have a semi at a neutral location.

Yep, we've lost a lot of our edge. Lamela and Moura need to find some of that early season form and quickly.

To be fair they changed the offside rule with VAR in between legs, so I’m sure they would have found another way of fudging us

Same way they hammered Wigan in the final? Or Chelsea hammered us in the final? Its a one off game, basically at our current home. There is no knowing how we might both look like by then and how the form will be etc.

They are on a different level to us. They would have hammered us. Irrelevant anyhow - you need to win the semis to have a chance in finals.

A bit worried about the amount of times he went down or limped tonight. Hope there’s no injury there that’ll keep him out. At this rate, I’m bringing my boots and jersey to the next game.
When’s he’s on form he gets battered every game, he does buy a few free kicks because he gets there a split second before the opponent

100% fudged by VAR next year

Winks or Rose for MOTM.
Eriksen came to life in the 2nd half but not enough to get in the vote IMO

2 more injured and fudge all to show for it. fudge.

Yeah, plus our style matches up very poorly against City somehow.

I thought they’d give us a roasting at Wembley earlier this season and we could easily have gotten a draw if Lamela kept his head or Trippier didn’t have a brainfart.

In a one off final, we could have beat them.
