Quitting Cigarettes

That must be awful but smoking hardly assures an early, suffering free death

Agreed. It does, however, guarantee not spending a decade or more of non-life in an institution, at a cost of 50k+ per annum, before your eventual demise, ensuring your family's resentment, guilt and relative impoverishment.

Got a light? ;)

I don't think that is true. My understanding is that one in three smokers die of a smoking related disease. You could spend a decade or more of non-life in an institution with ****ed lungs, circulation and no tongue.

No disrespect Bud, but I know what I'm talking about.

Smoking like a goodun currently. Having stopped for years on two occasions I am relaxed about the health issues. I have recently been confronted with the ghastly reality of the body outliving the brain, with all of the horror it entails, I have no intention of ending up as an abandoned shell, at a cost of £1k+ plus per week.

My father had Alzheimers and I guess we were lucky because he got pneumonia and died after only 2 years. But I agree with you it is horrible to see a body but no brain function.

cancers a pretty nasty way to go as well, and certainly not always quick, you can still be in a hospital/hospice for years at great cost and distress to your family

i was never a big smoker, half a pack a day at most

but I had a tooth extracted partially due to smoking, the dentist showed me the stains it caused, that caused me to quit cold turkey.

Humans dont like change, mostly they only do it when forced to or as the result of something happening to them.

How are you quitters getting on these days?

Ive been using a Vaporizer for just over a week now - working an absoloute treat! Had a couple of pulls off a mates cig on friday night (just as a test really) and i nearly puked it tasted so bad! Would dfeo recommend

Yeah the taste tends to be bad after a few days off it, just persevere and get through the bad taste and youll be back on it - so dont worry haha.

Im starting to quit smoking again tomorrow. Not happy about this but have to persevere. I really need to just stay indoors for a month or two and not have any social activity as the triggers really are the going out and drinking part

Now on day 100 of vaporiser only, some days I dont even use it. I now sleep better, feel better but have put on half a stone. I would recommend the vape route.

Quit for 2 years from 2011 to 2013 with Champix and then started again. Tried Vapes for a month and gave me headaches. Want to quit but no drive.

Any recommendations for specific vaporizers? I've tried just about everything else. Like LutonSpurs I have no drive/will to quit. Usually manage a week or two, then cave in. I'd like to try something new and hope for a miracle cure.

Stopped for just over a year now.

Used Champix once and started again a few months later. I think that was mostly because I gave up for the wrong reasons.

This time, used Champix again and I've been stopped over a year. Still isn't a single day that I don't want to smoke, but I can at least cope now.

i bought the EVOD starter pack from Amazon for about £26 quid - you get two full vaporizers and a bunch of coils (heating elements which burn out after a while) plus the charger. seems good value and was well recommended.

it doesn't come with any liquid so do a bit of research in to that - these web pages were recommended :

http://www.health-e-vape.co.uk - Pure Perfection range
http://www.krakenecigs.com
http://www.tmax-juices.co.uk
http://www.cloudehousevapor.com - Mount Baker Vapor range

though i found a store in Covent Garden, V-revolution which sells liquid and let's you taste them before buying so might be an idea to see if there's something like that near you? im only a week in but it looks like a 20ml bottle, which costs about 7 quid would last me the best part of a month

^^

Fasttech (based in China) is a superb site to order all manner of vaping equipment and sundries. Everything is free postage...and it is cheap..DIRT cheap.

These 50ml bottles cost approx £3 each (free postage) and the flavorings are pretty good. At the prices quoted it's just safe to experiment a little :-

I have been vaping since Feb this year and have not touched a real smoke since. I started on 24mg Nicotine strength but I am now down to 12mg.

I currently use an Innokin MVP2 & a couple of Innokin VV's & have a few Ego batteries for backup :-

Fasttech do take Paypal, so you are 100% covered on all purchases. Delivery can take 5-6 week, but recently I have had packages arrive in under 2 weeks.

Highly recommended

Thanks for the advice chaps. I'm in town for the WBA game at the weekend, and I'll probably get a chance to go to Covent Garden, so I'll have a look at V-revolution.

Wow, do you feel safe buying DIRT cheap vapes from China? The country with more health scares than you can shake a stick at? The country where they pumped stagnant, diseased water into meat to make it heavier, where they dump raw effluent and chemicals into rivers that people wash in and drink out of, the country where baby food is regularly contaminated, so frequently that there is a limit on how much baby food Chinese people can buy from abroad?

You are a brave man, good luck with that, I'm sure everything you are inhaling is fine.

Mind you cigarettes are packed with the worst chemicals, so it is hard to say which is worse really!

Time will tell Mr Bullet.

The plain fact is that an awful lot of Chinese liquid is re-branded in the UK and sold on to the public. Hangsen and Dekang are very large companies in this industry and have a lot of experience and their brands are very well respected. Their quality control (it is alleged) is extremely high.

Some of the newer "cottage industry" juice makers, based in the UK, may offer a better vaping experience BUT I do worry about their quality control.

Regulations will soon be in place for this massively expanding business in the UK and USA..and changes will happen...and not all of them will be good...ESPECIALLY for "cottage industry" set-ups.

As for the side effects, at present, from my vaping. Well, apart from feeling much healthier, I can run..I don't stink of ashtrays..and my mouth feels fresh. My breathing is better..no more wheezing..
