One thing to watch is the Gakpo situation...it could still shift. If he throws up a stink, dominos will fall. I notice City have not finalised the deal yet, medical set for tomm. Feels weird to me!

I think it's short (in several ways LOL) for sure, and at the same time, we have added undoubted quality with Marmoush and Savio. There is a glaring need for a striker with guaranteed goals. The fact we oped against going for a Balogun-type suggests they are keeping that cash safe?

I think the backline has to be taken with a massive dose of faith, its unclear IMO if Robbo, Senesi, JPVH are improvements on what has left. CM is a HUGE upgrade and Marmoush looks a proper pinch IMO. Savio could be absolutely anything. Loads to be optimistic about but I don't think being cautious is a bad thing because I think there are parts to be cautious of.

We are still hugely reliant on players coming back from injury in areas and hopefully back to some of the levels they have shown before

Sorry buy Savio is not undoubted quality - he has it all to prove in this league.

Marmoush, better, but still only has one standout season to his name in his career at 27 years old.

Most important is that we still have some left in the bank for future windows. Given where we've been it is going to take more than one to sort this long-term.
 
I guess we still have a day left, so anything can happen but from what the activity looks like we are clearly not targeting a no.9. I assume it will be Marmoush as a deeper CF and reliant on goals from out wide. Solanke i presume will be the backup option if we need to push more.

I think it's all a gamble in that sense, yes, and we're reliant on the players being what the manager wanted because that will hopefully acitivate them to their potential.

The attacking issues have been with us since the day Kane left, followed on by Sonny's departure. And I fear they will continue to an extent.
Defensively, I think we had to move decisively due to the Romero situation, Senesi was already sort of done, ditto Robertson. The club has been in such turmoil and turnaround these past 14 months or so, that a period of quiet 'this is what we have' might give everyone a chance to settle and perform.
IF Kroupi is the number one striker choice and we're holding on, then I applaud that (even though I am not convinced personally he's a good fit)...

I'm crossing fingers for that still. City pivot back to Gakpo and we still get Ndiaye. Clutching straws maybe...

No, but the first few signings gave the impression there was a clear plan: rebuild from the back, then move further up the pitch. Whatever one may think of JPVH and Robertson, they were clearly highly rated, at least by the club/manager. Same goes for Tonali or Fernandes. However, these last two signings don't exactly give out the same vibes.

Tosin is, at best, an opportunistic replacement for Danso, while Mudryk's name seems to have been drawn from a hat. The disappointment comes from the fact that it looked like the club had a clear plan; even when we stopped signing new players, it was to focus on the sales. Those two players look like we needed to add bodies no matter what (and I would argue money would have been better spent on a CF, but that's another matter).

Maybe they're not and De Zerbi will be laughing at us come next May but right now, it doesn't seem very likely.
