No, but the first few signings gave the impression there was a clear plan: rebuild from the back, then move further up the pitch. Whatever one may think of JPVH and Robertson, they were clearly highly rated, at least by the club/manager. Same goes for Tonali or Fernandes. However, these last two signings don't exactly give out the same vibes.

Tosin is, at best, an opportunistic replacement for Danso, while Mudryk's name seems to have been drawn from a hat. The disappointment comes from the fact that it looked like the club had a clear plan; even when we stopped signing new players, it was to focus on the sales. Those two players look like we needed to add bodies no matter what (and I would argue money would have been better spent on a CF, but that's another matter).

Maybe they're not and De Zerbi will be laughing at us come next May but right now, it doesn't seem very likely.

Tosin seems a response to Danso's desire to leave, for which De Zerbi has made his feelings clear
Mudryk, as a loan when our main targets escaped us, isn't appalling. Option to buy if he starts pulling up trees. Otherwise we actually purchase someone in January or next summer rather than having actually bought option F now and cluttered up the squad for years.
Again, these two transfers come nowhere close to derailing a damn fine window.

There's not much to say he is a better option on the left than Tel based on his performances for Chelsea and he hasn't played a professional game since November '24 - the idea he's going to walk in to our lineup is a bit fanciful.

Interesting. Would love him to succeed but can’t see it at LW. Not sure I can see him doing well up front, but Solanke is a bust at this point so can’t be any worse.

Some not so good news today guys, but all in all a 9/10 window for me.

Likely ending up with 10 new players (including loans), and players surplus to requirements or wanting a move all but gone.

Looks like Richy has dug a very deep hole for himself but, hey-ho we have carried him since he first arrived.

Overall, I have never seen a TW like this and I am a season ticket holder of nearly thirty six years.

Fair point. But he’ll surely be bang up for it and has a ton of pace… this is a better punt than spending £50m on a panic buy just to fill out the squad.

He said 'in principle'...it is absolutely 95% there, and Liverpool are potentially stuck with a player who really, really wants to leave. I am engaging in whataboutery+ here, but there are a couple of last-gasp scenarios:

City do the Ndiaye deal, Gakpo throw toys from pram, Liverpool realise our gazillions can help them get their Brighton target, Gulfsteams swooshing all over the place to get players to medicals. Remember, all personal terms are done as are fees agreed (in principle).

City see the chance to drag Gakpo over the line as he won't stop bitching, Liverpool take City's money and go get their backup, Everton sell Ndiaye to us for cash, go to City for Grealish AND make a deadline day purchase of Balogun. Or Richy if everyone is in the mood.

The fact it is 'agreed in principle' and medicals 'set for tomm' leave me wondering if there is last minute twist...

Or whether this is all gonads hahahahahahah!

No, but they cast a disappointing shadow, in a certain context - ie we lost our first two games.

Financially, Tosin's deal is okay. We're likely to make a profit and considering how far down the pecking order is going to be, it's not really a problem. He looked decent at Fulham but every time I saw him in a Chelsea shirt, he looked like a disaster waiting to happen.

Mudryk, I assume, is De Zerbi's suggestion because we had nobody else. I'm not really keen on signing players who have been banned for failing a drug test. I don't see what he brings in the short term, since he's been out of the game for two years and he will likely take months to get up to speed (if he isn't injured by then, that is).

Again, these deals dont erase the good work done earlier, but they don't meet the expectations born out of the said good work. There were better options out there, particularly outside of the Premier League, but that's the manager's choice and many Spurs fans (myself included) wanted the club to back him. It's underwhelming at the moment, but we'll get a better idea of the amount of thought put into these transfers in a couple of months.

There's a lot of weird transfers happening every year in football. Sometimes, a club want to please a certain agent. Sometimes, people at the club have no idea who to buy, so they go for a punt. I think I got a little carried away at the start of the window thinking we had a clear plan and vision.

Or we have a peaceful day completing the formalities of a few sales and loans out that have already been agreed in principle while finishing the process of getting Tosin and Mudryk in.
