Thomas Frank - Head Coach

Today he didn’t start
United he did in some weird set up
There have been opportunities for him to play
But he has stuck with others

He has had a jaw injury remember...probably wasn't fit enough to start and i suspect we are lucky we had him available at all.
He's also had that dead leg for a while.

There's enough issues in the team with Frank atm, we don't need to also accuse him of deliberately not starting a striker that has had one injury or another since he's joined (typical Spurs luck, see Solanke)

I think we have too many people making excuses for a manager who simply doesn’t know how to create a team that attacks with anything other than long balls.

And we having got those players who bully defences like he had at Brentford

As i say, there are enough issues to be looked at but we can't start making accusations of him deliberately not starting players who have been injured, unless you have some solid ITK to that effect?

Unnecessary (and quite damaging actually), unless there is ITK.....Enough going in without adding that imo

Well he has chosen to not play some and play others
Today he chose to play 8 defensive players and we couldn’t defend
That’s factual
But people saying he hasn’t got players are wrong. He has players and we actually spent a lot of money on attacking players this summer.
He is choosing to play defenders over attackers or players who simply don’t do what is needed
Could be him trying to understand his squad but he is quickly affecting form and I believe (opinion) morale in the team

Again, if Muani didn't have that jaw injury he starts today. After all, he started the last 3 PL games, vs Everton, Chelsea and Man Utd.
So i think you need to stop using his use of Muani to make what could be a valid point if you instead referenced Xavi who has often not started...but then we've seen how he is struggling to get up to speed with the PL from a physical point of view.

We have had injures to Bergvall, Sarr as well as Mani going int this match. I can't imagine he would have started the system we did if all 3 were fully fit and firing.

I’m sure he would have played this set up
he likes 5 at the back hence why he has used it for years
Sarr is fit which is why he came on
Same with xavi
The booing vs United shows that fans aren’t happy with the way he has us playing and sacrificing attacking players isn’t a good start

For me, the second half of the season will be an indication of whether TF is the right man for the job. It will allow for time for a system to be embedded and understood, new players to have settled in, and new additions to the squad to come in and also (hopefully) see players return form injury.

Is it True Thomas Frank said something in an interview to the effect of "who" when asked about Eze?
Hopefully that was just the media/press being crafty by chopping up answers and putting them together to make it look like Frank said that..

However, if Frank genuinely did say something to that effect...oh boy...

Our squad isn’t that rubbish. They are performing within their capabilities. They are all capable of more and we need a manager that can get them to find that next level before they decide to go to that next level themselves and move to join other clubs.

We have the majority of last years goal scorers from last season either gone or injured. Are expecting Frank to make Tel, Odebert, Solanke and Kudus into a combined force to replace that.?

If you are then I think you are slightly deluded

We have only played 3 CBs once before this season and that was against PSG.
Sure over his time previously at Brentford he often has. It can be a useful string to the bow -if you have the right tools AND maintain an attacking threat.
Players coming on later than halfway through a game doesn't necessarily mean they are fit enough to play 90...plus we have again a lot of games coming up.

Not playing Xavi was indeed a sign of too much caution...but again, what has Xavi done to make him undroppable for such a game? Sadly, he's still too easily knocked off the ball and still too hesitant to pull the trigger and shoot when well placed (which often leads to him being dispossessed and us countered directly)
