Thomas Frank - Head Coach

What me and my pal was saying
If we can see progress then Frank will get time and patience from us
I have seen some progress but not in any big game so far though
I’ve seen no progress
That’s what bothers me
We look defensively good when the same back 4 that’s started under Ange play ..
the attack is worse
The midfield go sideways more than a Rugby team
There is no entertainment and no spark
And we still keep on getting injuries so that ain’t because of a manager
Even the new shirt looks brick

Absolutely.
If I am going to get the brick kicked out of me, I'd rather do it fighting too than immediately curling into a ball and simply taking blows...

Exactly this. But we do nothing. As I’ve said before, losing a match isn’t the end IF we have given our all, we have chased every ball, made life tough for the opposition. But we stand off, don’t get in their faces, and have too little by way of attacking intent. It’s not acceptable especially not in matches v our biggest rivals.

He says he wants aggression but I think he has to show that himself

I would have thought after it happened against Chelsea it would not happen again and it has !!

The attack is worse for sure! But of course it is with no Son, no Solanke, no Madison and no Kulu. Last season they delivered 49 goals and 41 assists. Yet with all these players out, and only one senior attacker signed you think you should be seeing progress? Just holding the fort and rebuilding is all any manager could and should be doing. It will take time.

Lower expectations, and there will be brighter days ahead.

Luckily to cover for some of the loss of those players we have recruited some
We also have a player back fit who missed last season in Odobert
And whilst I get those numbers they do include assisting each other

It's not looking good...and i think Frank has it worse than many of his predecessors because he has little breathing space: we have never had a new coach start a new season with us in the CL. I still maintain if he/we had EL there'd be more wriggle room to try youngsters, different formations etc and that might help ease some of the pressure in the long-run.

That said, Frank HAS to show some coaching acumen to build some varied attacking patterns: just hoofing it long to the likes of Richarlison is not good enough.

One thing i will say: if it turns out that Frank is out of his depth at our level of club (whatever you think that is/may be) i think it says a lot that we sacked a manager who won us a major European trophy (not that i had a problem with Ange being sacked, i think he HAD to go but with as much gratitude as possible for breaking our trophy drought) and then replaced him with the manager at a club of Brentford's level and you could say that is a massive jump, bigger then the jump from, say, Southampton. You would usually a replacement to at least be someone who is used to juggling multiple competitions, including a European one, maybe specifically someone with decent CL tournament experience actually....

We've signed one senior attacking player. Simons can develop and be a good player, but he's not polished yet. Its his first season in a new country, and he needs time. But you expect to see progress? It will come, but not overnight whilst we are missing key players.

Can Frank build whilst everyone is biting at his ankles?

Why should we lower expectations? As a club the ticket prices and all supporter costs are in the highest bracket compared to other clubs. The stadium revenue from football as well ad other events, NFL, concerts, etc means that we are one of the most profitable football clubs not just in the Premier league but Worldwide.

We have owners that have made it clear through Levy and Vinai that our intent is to win leagues and cups. Yes, Levy has stepped down but the intent seemed to be a club focus rather than just from two individuals.

We should have expectations that we perform at a higher level than has been seen. How can home going supporters be expected to constantly turn up when we perform so poorly at home never mind so few victories. Yes, supporters should back the team whatever but this doesn’t mean backing the direction in which we are heading if the direction appears to be not where the club should be. Sometimes changes are needed and I think that time is now.

Suit yourself. You'll only be let down, and living in lala land tho. Almost every successful football side took time to develop. We did finish 17th last season, and now we have a number of core players out/left. Why would you have such lofty expectations under such circumstances!

Because sucess is developed over time, lower expectation allow for more support, more enjoyment, and for the team to have the space it needs to make mistakes, learn, and develop.

Stop for a moment and ask, why are we in a pepetual cycle of sacking and hiring managers? It isn't the managers is it. All of them have had success at other clubs. The key variables are the players they have at their disposal, and time. Time to develop the side. By sacking another manager you just start over deneying them time to build.

Moreover, home games used to be fun despite the result, now the expectation is so much higher, and the enjoyment is lower. Go figure. Maybe if fans came with a more positive, never say die attitude, we would see better home form. The pressure at home, on a patched up new team, when booos ring out, is too much. If the expectation was lower, and the support stronger in the face of adversity, the team will deliver quicker.

Setting yourself up for your own failure then.

"I pay the most so I expect" without taking into account how rubbish our squad is and how far behind we are of others is just ridiculous.

Frank nor any manager has a magic wand based on your ticket price

17th was never a true reflection of the ability of the team though, was it?! If it had been then Ange would have been given a new contract and not sacked. There were reasons why we finished 17th. Whether it’s considered due to injuries, due to rotation for European fixtures, due to poor management or all three plus other reasons.

To always use ‘we finished 17th last season’ as a comparison to where we are now doesn’t tell the full story.

I feel that we have a squad that Thomas Frank isn’t yet getting the best of. I say it as I find it. If he stays and we improve significantly then at that time I will say that I was wrong.

I wanted Glasner ahead of Thomas Frank. Glasner has European success, won the FA Cup, and has Palace pushing higher above their ‘weight’ than Thomas Frank had Brentford. I think he was a better fit but likely that one is completely missed now.

Our squad isn’t that rubbish. They are performing within their capabilities. They are all capable of more and we need a manager that can get them to find that next level before they decide to go to that next level themselves and move to join other clubs.

Muani is here
He is a World Cup finalist
We need to stop saying he doesn’t have the tools
