The transfer window thread.

Tottenham senior stars urged Jose Mourinho to sign Wolves attacker Adama Traore after he gave them the runaround at Molineux, Football Insider understands.

The winger, 23, was outstanding as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side came from behind to draw level in yesterday’s clash before a last-gasp Jan Vertonghen header secured the three points for Spurs.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that Spurs’ players were hugely impressed by Traore’s contribution and made that clear to the manager in the dressing room afterwards.

One senior player is believed to have remarked he could not believe how much Traore has improved this season.

Traore struggled to make an impression at Wolves in his debut season following his summer of 2018 transfer for a then club-record £18million.

But he has added end product and greater potency to his explosive speed and outstanding athleticism to provide Wolves with a real cutting edge on the right flank.

Traore has made 14 league starts among 26 appearances in all competitions for the Midlands outfit in this campaign, scoring four times and supplying six assists to fully establish himself as a key member of the side.

This comes after he made just eight Premier League starts among 36 appearances in all competitions last season, which yielded just one goal and three assists.

Traore first moved to England in January 2015, when he signed from Aston Villa from Barcelona.

The former Spain Under-21 international subsequently joined Middlesbrough in the summer of 2016 and spent two years at the north-east outfit.

How predictable is that?

Leicester keen on Demiral
Leicester are said to be ‘really interested’ in signing Juventus defender Merih Demiral.

The 21-year-old- who partners current Foxes centre-back Caglar Soyuncu in defence for the Turkish national team- has struggled to make an impression at Juve since his move from Sassuolo in the summer, making just three appearances.

Leicester are thought to be lining up a bid of around €30m to test Juve’s resolve.

Serie A clubs eye Foyth
Tottenham defender Juan Foyth is being lined up for a move to Italy.

Foyth has barely featured since Jose Mourinho came in at Spurs.

Roma are keen on the defender, as are both Milan clubs.

Tottenham set sights on signing Rangers defender in January – Ibrox Exclusive

By
Wayne Veysey

Tottenham have joined the race to sign Rangers rising star Leon King in January, Football Insider can reveal.

The 15-year-old defender’s future at Ibrox is up in the air after he rejected the club’s offer of a first professional contract.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider the club have set their sights on the centre-back ahead of the January window.

King has also attracted interest from the likes of Emirates Marketing Project, Liverpool and Chelsea, as well as Bundesliga big guns RB Leipzig.

The starlet does not turn 16 until next month, but his potential is such he is part of Scotland’s Under-17s squad and is regarded as one of the best in his age group in Britain.

Rangers fear they could now lose King in the same way they did with Billy Gilmour two years ago.

The playmaker couldn’t agree a professional contract with the Glasgow giants and was lured down south by Chelsea for a fee of around £500,000.

Gilmour has progressed through the youth ranks at Stamford Bridge and already played four times for the first team, twice in the Premier League and twice in the League Cup this season.

Rangers staff rate Glasgow-born King equally highly and he featured for Graeme Murty’s development side aged just 14.

There are growing fears his army of suitors will make him an offer ahead of the January window that he can’t refuse.

Zeki Celik hints interest in England move amid Spurs rumours
Olly Dawes

Lille defender Zeki Celik has told TRT Spor that he is learning English as he attempts to win a move to the Premier League – just days after Tottenham rumours emerged.

Celik, 22, had impressed in Turkey's second tier with Istanbulspor before being plucked by Lille, and he made the transition to Ligue 1 seamlessly.

The right back racked up five assists last season in an impressive campaign, emerging as one of the most promising young right backs in Europe having been a relative unknown before his move to France.

This season, Celik already has three assists to his name, whilst he also has two goals in 14 caps for Turkey having quickly established himself as a regular international.

Unsurprisingly, Celik is now attracting major interest, with DHA in Turkey claiming that Tottenham want to sign Celik as Jose Mourinho pursues a new right back.

Assistant Joao Sacramento – who worked with Celik at Lille – has allegedly recommended a move for Celik, whether that be next month or at the end of the season.

Now, Celik has confirmed that he is learning English, with is a major hint towards a move to England, and even noted that his biggest aim is to play in the Premier League, and hopes to fulfil that goal – which may just give Spurs hope for a deal.

“My biggest aim is to play in this great competition,” said Celik. “I am learning English. I have ambitions and targets. I hope I will reach them,” he added.

Digne linked with Lyon
Lyon are suffering an injury crisis - and they could raid Everton.

The French club lost Memphis Depay and Jeff-Reine Adelaide to ACL injuries at the weekend.

According to Le Parisien, they will now target Lucas Digne in a bid for a quick-fix in January.

Man Utd and Tottenham 'in talks' over £50m Boubakary Soumare January transfer
United and Spurs in discussions over signing of Lille midfielder according to reports from France, with clubs across Europe interested in the 20-year-old

Manchester United and Tottenham are both reportedly in talks over a move for Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare in the January transfer window.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is believed to be targeting two midfielders before the start of the season, and have been linked with Donny van de Beek of Ajax and Atletico Madrid's Saul Niguez.

Tottenham also need to strengthen, with Jose Mourinho having guided the club up to fifth in the Premier League after taking over from sacked Mauricio Pochettino with the club struggling in mid-table.

Tottenham and United are a point apart as they chase fourth-placed Chelsea in the race for a Champions League spot - and now it has emerged they are also rivals for the same player.

Both clubs are in discussions over the possible signing of midfielder Soumare next month, according to a report from La Voix du Nord via Get Football News France .

The 20-year-old is highly sought after, with as many eight clubs from across Europe in talks either with Lille or with Soumare's representatives, according to the report.

Napoli, Real Madrid and Valencia are understood to be among those who have held preliminary talks with the France youth international, who could cost up to around £50million euros.

Wolves have reportedly dropped out of the race to sign him after their overtures in the summer were rejected.

According to Get Football News France, Lille are relaxed about the prospect of losing the midfielder, who has made 22 appearances this season, helping them up to third Ligue 1 table.

However, they would prefer a deal whereby Soumare is loaned back to them until the end of the season.

Mourinho has already snapped up coaches Joao Sacramento and Nuno Santos from the French club since taking over as Tottenham manager, and has a good relationship with Lille director Luis Campos.

Report: Tottenham scouts persuade Jose Mourinho to bid for £20m star
John Verrall

Tottenham Hotspur are said to be interested in Hull City forward Jarrod Bowen, which has caused Saudi Sportswashing Machine to pull out of the race.

According to the Northern Echo, Tottenham Hotspur scouts have persuaded Jose Mourinho to bid for Hull City’s Jarrod Bowen in January.

Spurs have been long-term admirers of Bowen, with their scouting team feeling he could really add to their current squad.

And the Northern Echo claim that Tottenham are now ready to bid for the prolific forward in the new year, with Mourinho also convinced by his quality.

Saudi Sportswashing Machine have also been following Bowen, but with Spurs preparing a bid they have pulled out of the race to sign him.

Saudi Sportswashing Machine don’t believe that they will be able to compete with Tottenham in the race to sign the Hull attacker, so are now focusing their attentions elsewhere.

Bowen has scored 17 goals in 23 games for Hull this season and at the age of 22, he is considered one of the best talents outside the Premier League.

If he arrived at Tottenham, the ruthless finisher would likely start on the substitutes’ bench, but he could provide some strong back-up to Harry Kane.

Bowen can play anywhere across the front-line, and his versatility could make him a great option for Spurs.

When Bowen was last linked with an exit from Hull it was said by Sky Sports that Grant McCann’s side wanted £20 million for him, even though he only has six months remaining on his contract.

Bowen is well worth a punt, but I do wonder where/how he fits in.

Tottenham Hotspur linked with move for key Leicester City man

Leicester City transfer news | Reigning player of the year Ricardo Pereira is said to be wanted by Jose Mourinho's side - and his replacement has already been identified according to reports

Leicester City right-back Ricardo Pereira has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Reports in the Belgian press linking Royal Antwerp defender Aurelio Buta say Brendan Rodgers' side are monitoring the 22-year-old if Ricardo leaves the King Power Stadium .

The report from Gazet van Antwerpen adds that Tottenham have already expressed an interest in City's reigning player of the year and Buta is high on a list of possible replacements.

Ricardo has established himself as one of the Premier League's top full-backs and has played every minute of City's League campaign this season with the club currently sitting in second place after 17 matches.

The Portuguese international joined from FC Porto last year for around £22 million and impressed in his first full season in the East Midlands.

He missed just two of his side's League games and scored two goals while registering seven assists.

Ricardo has also turned out for OGC Nice and Vitoria de Guimaraes

Right sort of player, definitely the right position - but what are the chances of us getting anyone from Leicester? Surely it would be far to costly?

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho set for AC Milan and Crystal Palace transfer battle
West Brom youngster Nathan Ferguson is reportedly being targeted by Tottenham, AC Milan and Crystal Palace

England under-20s defender Nathan Ferguson is the subject of interest from a whole host of clubs, including Italian giants AC Milan and Tottenham Hotspur .

The West Brom youngster played just over an hour at right back in the Baggies’ 1-1 draw with Wigan last week and a number of clubs were on hand to monitor his progress.

According to the Sun , AC Milan, Marseille and Hamburg were among the European suitors in attendance, with all three sides sending senior scouts to the DW Stadium.

Ferguson is out of contract in the summer and is also on the radar of Premier League sides Spurs and Crystal Palace .

However, he could begin negotiations on a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January, giving the likes of Milan an advantage over any other British sides interested in the player.

As he is only 19, the Baggies would be paid compensation if he left but it is likely to be well below their valuation of Ferguson.

16-year-old forward Louie Barry has already departed the Hawthorns this season, opting to sign his first professional contract with Barcelona .

That move is said to have earned West Brom around £100,000, a bargain for a player considered to be one of Britain’s brightest, young talents.

Despite the interest from elsewhere, Ferguson could yet sign an extension with the Baggies.

Under Slaven Bilic they are certainly in with a chance of earning promotion to the Premier League and, the promise of regular top flight football next season may be enough to persuade him to stay.

This season, Ferguson has emerged as one of the breakout stars in the Championship, with pundit Keith Andrews recently praising him on Sky Sports’ EFL podcast .

“I was there for his debut against Nottingham Forest ,” Andrews said, “we were surprised to see him start even though he’d played through pre season, and you’re always wondering how someone that young is going to deal with first team football and it was amazing, it was amazing to watch how easily he slotted in.

“Defensively and I know recently this is something we always judge full backs on what they do going forwards, but this fella loves defending, he’s come up against some of the best attacking players in the division and he’s had them in his pocket.
