Summer 2018 transfer thread

Lamela, in my view, is upgrade-able, however I dont see that £50m for Zaha is money well spent. I think could spend that elsewhere and get a player who can make more of an impact than Lamela has shown able to. That said, if Lamela stays as one of the 5 AMs which we have as a result of us not being able to secure someone better, its far from a disaster

Sure but what are our chances of signing Messi?

I don't see anything in Gray, he is at his level imho moments of brilliance but way to inconsistent with no sign of changing that (see him more of a Townsend than a Sterling).

I would love to get Zaha in, has pace but also ability 1 v 1, really would like to see us risk it with him.

United will demand £140m if Pogba is to leave Old Trafford this summer, two years after paying £89m to sign him. (Mail)

Buy player, player doesnt impress, want to get rid of player, add £50m to price

Maybe and i will not question that, however Gray is 4 years younger then Zaha and would cost a lot less and could develop under Poch.

Indeed but I think we will see some
signings this summer which he will be looking for instant impact from. Zaha would count I think, whilst also improving. The one question is whether he wants to learn more/be part of a squad or whether he wants to be a big fish in a smaller pond...

Well most players are overpriced in todays game so he probably will not be cheap, i may be wrong but i think Zaha would want to play on a regular basis and would not come IF he thought he would be used from the bench. With Gray because he is only 21 he would be willing to learn and wait before expecting to much.

But its guess work at moment.

That is the biggest question about Zaha...

An interview with him was on SSN last night, I was quite impressed with him.

They were going on about relegation, of course, and his response was (paraphrasing) that he didnt give a brick about the mathematics of it all. He knows if they win their games they are safe, and so thats what they need to do. And he has been saying to the squad that reputations count for nought, its about delivering.

I liked the attitude he showed, seems to me he has matured a lot.

Though, of course, he still sounded like a stupid footballer. None of them are ever that articulate are they?

120m plus whatever we make from sales - is how it reads to me

Could just be a ruse to help shift those 1882 season tickets mind :D

No way we could even do that much business in the 2-3 weeks between the WC ending and the window shutting.

It's going to be a quiet window across the continent because of that
