Serious relegation fears

I think we'll be down to a three team title battle come the end of February
02/02

Leicester v Liverpool
Norwich v Tottenham
Sunderland v Emirates Marketing Project
06/02
Emirates Marketing Project v Leicester
Tottenham v Watford
07/02
Bournemouth v Arsenal
14/02
Arsenal v Leicester
Emirates Marketing Project v Tottenham
27/02

Man Utd v Arsenal
Tottenham v Swansea

96/97 was a crazy year, 75 points won Utd the league and second place was on 68 points!

What happened that year - everyone must have been very inconsistent.

Kevin De Bruyne being out for City for so long is a serious dent in their title hopes. Best player except for Aguero by a mile.

Martin Atkinson was great for them the other day. He has impeccable touch and can keep a ball in play far longer than any other player. ;)

But, if De Bruyne and Kompany are both out, then City will definitely struggle. They've already been exposed for their weaknesses without Kompany. Hopefully he will be missing when we play them next.

Shows how weak their team is though in reality as there so depedant on one or two top drawer players.... Although I'd argue silva is better than de Bruyne

Best attacking player except for Aguero perhaps... But Kompany in particular and even Hart are at least as important for them. Fernandinho has gotten a lot of praise this season too. And even in terms of attacking players Silva surely is up there close to De Bruyne?

I think this season 73pts could take it, bar Leicester nobody is averaging 2pts a match, 15 games left I dont see Leicester carrying it on at quitethat rate, so add the 30pts to City and Arsenal makes it 74, but as I say their current average is 1.91 which equates to 29pts

To stand an outside chance I think do we need to be sat on at least 70pts before the last match.
I would say we need to win 5 home games (i.e Watford,Swans,Bourne,WBA,Soton) and draw the other 2

while on the road a minimum of 11pts (Wins at Norwich,Villa. 4pts from WH and Stoke, 1pt from City,Liverpool,Chelsea) or basically any combination which picks up the required points. (i.e draw one of those 7 wins and one of the draws needs to be turned into a win, well you know the score...)

Another more the 70 come the Toon match will be an absolute bonus, but I think for anybody that wants to entertain the notion we can win it thats the minimium we need to acheive over the next 14 games, and tbh it is more or less the form we have shown all season so far
23 games 42 pts 3 defeats
70pts target 14 games 28pts 2 defeats

What a key day Feb 14th could be

How sweet it will be if Spurs' name is added into that list for once ! For all our domination in the early 1960s, it is criminal why we never came close to winning the league since doing the Double in 1961.
We did the following year, if we had beaten Ipswich at home 3-1 instead of losing 3-1 we would have done the double again. A result which Bill Nicholson took the blame for.

I know it's heresy to many on this site but we have more chance qualifying for CL by our league position than winning the EL, and I would gladly get knocked out in the next round if that is the aim of the club. I dont believe we have no chance of doing both and by trying for both we will miss out on both. Personally I would love to win the EL but I feel there are far harder games in that than the EPL.

We have a good squad now though. And our players are fairly used to playing 3 games a week at least some of the time.

Disagree that going for both means missing out on both. Going for both is how we learn and develop as a team. CL qualification is not the aim in itself it's a step along the path to where we want to be.

When are we likely to play 3 times a week?

Hardly ever. It's one of the worst cliches out there. With today's pitches you don't get that kind of backlog of fixtures any more. You might have times when there's 3 games in 7 days, but that really means 1 game the week before or after.

It will be twice a week now for some time but that's success

Massive month ahead now for us league wise. 4 fixtures - anything more than 9 points and we are really in the mix
