Serious relegation fears

That is an interesting perspective. To improve on last season's results we need not only not to let any points slip away against teams we beat last season (especially Arsenal H and Wet Spam A) but also we need to get more points at:

Emirates Marketing Project A
Liverpool A
Man U H
Stoke A
West Brom H
Chelsea A

No easy task (apart from West Brom H) IMO

Apart from City at home against bottom half sides (P8, W7D1, 26-5), they are all struggling for form now. Liverpool, United and even Chelsea could be a completely different prospect in a couple of months.

Its going to be a big ask tbh but teams will drop points everywhere. I expect Arsenal to go on a good run soon as they usually do. It's not at all impossible but it will involve us picking up results where we traditionally haven't done too well (Man U at home, Chelsea away, Liverpool away, Emirates Marketing Project away)

The good news is that we got zero points in some of those games - so even a draw is an improvement there.

And the assumption of this logic is that tho teams are the same as last season which we know isn't the case.

4 of those area away and we have been exceptional away from home being the better side in every game

Also anything taken from City is a swing in our favour

I think that 72 points will get us at least 4th. 27 points from the last 14 games.

8 wins 3 draws and 3 losses. COYS.

I think it's a big enough sample of teams to make an estimation for our final points tally, even if the individual results might end up differently. Most teams don't fluctuate that much from season to season. Half the league have gained or lost no more than 6 points compared to last season. Chelsea and Leicester are the two massive outliers, but in both cases it would be reasonable to suggest that their table position isn't a true reflection of their quality. There's a few at the bottom that are worse off than last season, but they usually find some end of season form when the relegation fight really kicks in.

Last season's results would take us to 70 points. To win the league we'd need closer to 80.

Last season's results would be accomplishment enough for me provided that makes the CL. I'm just looking at it from the perspective of getting seven wins, four draws and three losses from our last fourteen games. When you put if like that, if would be quite an accomplishment.

I suppose it is to those with little minds, and in you case one track ones.

'Moaners and whiners! That's what I hate most!' screamed the red-faced man, spittle running down his cheeks.

'And one track minds that find me amusing! Them too!'

Do get that mirror: it will do wonders for your sense of self-awareness, I assure you. If you ever look at it, of course. :D

Maybe bit city have there word points total at this point in a season since they got "doped" according to Sky!!!

This really isn't an ordinary season to judge. Leucester are an outlier but no team has improved in premier league history to the points swing they have, have they?

We think City are terrible this season, but they're only 2 points worse off than at this stage last season or 3 points if you compare the fixtures.

Just heard that an algorithm put together by some game or other puts the final placings as:

1. Emirates Marketing Project
2. Arsnal
3. Leicester
4. Spurs

Let's see how reliable these alcopops really are.

But it is their worst performance for 5 years

Win their next three and they'll be doing better than at that stage last season. Hopefully we won't allow that. Their form at the moment is WDWDWD and before that WLWLWL. Leicester next, then sadly us :(

And exactly how many games would have forecast Leicester to be top at this stage of the season?

Games are programmed speculation, little more than that as far as predictions go at least. Unless you want to explain how Julius Agahowa never became World Footballer of the Year and why we have almost forgotten about Adu, a player who was literally Much Adu about Nothing.

Why worry about our game against City? I'm sure they'll be as worried about facing us. I know our recent performances up there have been woeful but the page of form is turning.

Well if we ever have a chance of winning the PL in the near future, this season will be it. With the news that Guardiola is coming to City next season, I see a United-style domination for the next few seasons, with their bottomless pit of money, it doesnt bear thinking about who will come with him.
This is why, unless we see a miracle in the next 5 hours, I think we have missed another 'chance' again in the Jan window to really give it a go.

Luckily we dont play Stoke until April, because I wouldnt put it past a few teams to target Kane in the coming weeks
With his connections, I can see them bringing in Messi, Neymar or Iniesta. Or all of them.....
