OMT *** Tottenham Hotspur vs CSKA Moscow***

We've only let in 5 goals in 9 games, pretty good going. 5 clean sheets.

Record in all comps so far is:

P W D L F A
9 6 2 1 17 5

Bar Liverpool we haven't had the toughest of opponents, but that's a good stat regardless. Now for city on Sunday.

Big shout out to Davies, so under rated in possession. I like Trippier but the gap between him and Walker is a lot bigger than the gap between Rose and Davies.

Great tactical change by Poch at half time. We were coming up against centre halves that were strong and powerful, and playing inverted wingers meant we cut in and played to their strengths in the final third. Putting Lamela and Son on their natural side made it difficult for Moscow to set themselves, we attacked with more pace and width rather than trying to be too intricate and it changed the game. Good sub taking Janssen off too - he played well with what he could do, good touches and retains possession well when the ball gets to him, but we were more likely to win the game with tricky players against their brute centre backs. Again, massive shout to Poch.

And to GK. Comes on full of confidence, hussles back and stretches the opposition. He's not just pure pace, he's got a good touch and good technique.

There was a point after we scored where we didn't quite know whether we were going for another goal or possession, but once we realised we needed to slow the game down we were comfortable.

Good night for us!

Decent start indeed. Unfortunately our next opponents currently boast -
P W D L F A
10 10 0 0 30 6

As mentioned before, the match on Sunday is a real barometer on how well we are playing. I think most of the top teams are going to roll over Stoke,Sunderland and Boro. We have failed to beat the only two good PL teams we have faced so far.
Get a result Sunday and it will really set us up for another title tilt

Big measure for city too to see how they deal without DeBruyne... He makes them tick like silva did a while back

Their season collapsed last season without him too and they had a very similar start too

I also think their defence looks very vulnerable so here's hoping we only have Kane out of our players missing today (as his is a slightly longer term one)

great win in 2nd gear and with players missing, really like how this team is grinding out results. So solid at the back, Loris didnt have much to do and Son doesn't know how to miss at the moment. Great for Winks and Nkodou to get a few minutes of CL experience, great subs as usual by Poch.

Good result, generally dominant performance. We were wasteful again when in dangerous positions, and it remains a concern, but I'd rather make and miss chances than not make them. Alli still isn't convincing coming from deep, although Lamela looks a lot better than he already is when in the No.10 position. N'Koudou was pleasantly surprising when he came on, all pace and hustle with no little skill on the ball to match. And Trippier was generally impressive on the right, although he did get done by Eremenko once or twice.

Honestly, CSKA didn't look very good at all, so it's difficult to judge how good we were...but the result's great, and was ultimately comfortable, even if we did sort of wobble after getting the goal. 2nd in the group heading into the Leverkusen double-header - can't ask for more than that. :) Here's hoping everyone in Moscow gets home safe and sound, with no untoward incidents along the way (although it seemed quiet despite the pre-match fears, so maybe the risks of CSKA fans acting up were overblown).

If we could sort ourselves out as well the other end, we'd have a title-winning side, no question.

Great 3 points tonight lads. The big one will be next. If we can get a win away in Germany, that's one foot into the last 16. Three weeks to play ourselves into even better form and go out there confident of a win. COYS

GKN was a very bright positive. Especially that tackle he put in not long after coming on, that showed real application.
