For anyone who is a fan of The Coral, Zutons, Miles Kane or most modern Liverpool musicians and bands, the founder of Deltasonic Records was involved in a hit and run at the weekend. He passed away last night. Sad news as he is someone that helped release some of my favourite ever records. RIP

Decided to dive into Wilco after flirting for a while.
Started with Summerteeth. The immediate standout is Via Chicago which starts with the line 'I dreamt about killing you again last night and it felt all right to me' and contains, for me, simply one of the best guitar hooks I've ever heard: about 11 notes that pop up in a couple of sections of the song. Something about that hook, it speaks to the soul.
How To Fight Loneliness is strong and the melody on We're Just Friends is something else.
I'm about 6 listens in and it's still growing. There's a lot to discover on it.

It's bold. It's fresh. It's bang on. And here's me thinking mildly derogatory thoughts like 'it's a band for weepy girls'. This take's it to a whole new level.
Got co-erced into watching them in order to see the opening act whom I really wanted to see - Elbow. They got, like, six or seven songs, then off. Had the arena buzzing and wanting more. But no encore allowed.
Saw Elbow again this week, headlining on their current North American tour. Absolutely awesome.
It was worth the suffering.

His younger brother, Zac Bierk, played professional ice hockey. A goalie, the craziest position in sport, stopping frozen rubber discs fired at 100mph by men skating up to 30 mph.

I mean, I can, because I like them. A lot. But down here, they are nothing.
I am watching their Reading Fest set, huge crowd, big set.
They played a Summer festival here and they were the second band on the main stage. And I mean the second band to play. They were on as I was walking in, and I got there early (mainly to see them but still, I wasn't going to get there that early).
They were good, had a small but growing crowd watching them, but most people had no idea who they were.
They're coming back in a few months, and playing small venues. My local gig venue hold 2,200 and you get so close you can sniff them. I'm hoping I can see them but I might be out of town.
