Totally fair for me. RDZ comes in and has a downbeat, injured squad and gets us to something like the 6th best form side in the league. We have a good summer and have to navigate 38 games plus domestic cups whilst rivals have a full capacity season.

As you say, RDZ doesn't come in and declare victory because he made an incremental improvement on the last 2 league finishes. He will be targeting a CL place and of course that means minimally 5th in the current setup. What's the point of him thinking any other way.

What will be interesting is the first League Cup line-up that takes the field in his early games as manager. Frank got a pass and got Donny Rovers. Ange decided to make 8 changes and went out of the cup to Fulham. I'm hoping RDZ takes us deep into 2027 in the cups.

Like @thfcsteff I think next season could be interesting for us, new players, quite a few of our squad not in WC (fatigue will be a thing next season), no Europe, one game a week, Maddison & Kudus likely to return start of season, Deki, Xavi & Odobert later, all the new players will also give us a mentality refresh (something I think we needed more than the individual player by player), manager has some credit bag already (rare for Spurs).

So the cups will be interesting, I'd like to see us rotate as much as we safely can, give Robertson, Senesi, Danso, Spence, Gray, Bergvall, etc. the starts, both to get them on the same match fit page but to ensure we maximize our freshness for later in season. That said, if we got a favorable draw, RDZ should go for it, him saving us then following up with any trophy would give him huge credit in bank to push on even more.

Forgot he has now been relegated with 2 teams, not the best thing to have on your CV when coming to a team who have finished 17th twice in a row :D

But in all seriousness he is a quality player. Likely this is all to get Man U to hurry up and make their move as his heart is set on them, but it is good we are looking at the likes of him and Tonali - real genuine quality upgrades....

does West Ham need to sell?
i thought they were in some financial trouble with the relegation and all

i think we need a somerville more
He had one good month, he'll be too expensive relative to his proven level. He did not have a good season, he had one relatively short period of hot form.

If he signs with us could be third lucky 😅

Yes I agree but what he did in that one month was phenomenal considering the circumstances. He was also a very tidy player at Leeds.

I think he has more than enough in his locker to be a good player for us, should we sign him.

Also my blind faith in whatever RDZ wants then I’m all in. How about we do that this season, back the manager with the players that he wants and feels that he needs, rather than trying to deep dive into every miskick a player has made.

Also that’s not a slant on you @Bishop … just think that we all need a different thought process after years of chasing shadows
