Manager Sack Watch

I can't see where people feel United will fall apart with Moaninho in charge, they don't lose games and have enough in the team to be in top 4. They will always be able to pay top transfer fees and wages which will enable them to stay in that position. Ferguson won the league with a very average team and left them in a mess, neither the next two managers had the style or plan to get them back on track and the current manager gets results, he's not bothered about style, but given enough money and the right signings he could challenge City. Their glory years were built on the back of two great managers who loved the club and developed a culture, its difficult to see any current manager who could fit their shoes.

Because neither their performances nor chances created/conceded correlates to their actual results and position.

That luck must end someday.

Pardew how does he keep getting a job?
Simple - intelligence is still undervalued in football. In many cases it's frowned upon.

In any other field the sensible choice would be an intelligent amateur over an experienced halfwit - after all, if one is intelligent enough then one can master anything. Pardew, Sherwood, etc. just show how in football it's still considered better to be an experienced halfwit.

To defend him, clown shoe that he is, this is one of the few times he’s taken over a club and not improved their form.

He got reading promoted, West Ham (from the championship) and Saudi Sportswashing Machine into Europe, won a trophy* at Southampton then took palace to their highest ever league finish.

His effectiveness is short lived but there was logic in WBA appointing him.

*albeit one I’ve never heard of

I had to check my memory there so had a quick skim of his wiki, didn’t know about the Southampton trophy, and, looking at his stats, is he west hams most successful ever manager?

I am Sol Campbell said:
"I'm confident and it's not like it's rocket science to run a football club, especially when you get to that level."

"If you're intelligent enough and a quick learner you will learn pretty soon, within two or three games, what the team needs, training-wise, to survive in that league, get better in that league, to get in the play-offs or even win the league.

"I'm intelligent enough, it's not like I played on a fox and dog pitch all my life.

"I can't believe some people, I'm one of the greatest minds in football and I'm being wasted because of a lack of experience or 'maybe he talks his mind too much'.

"Go to Germany, they love people who speak their minds. They got the jobs.

"I'm sorry that I've got a mind, but don't be scared of that. That should be something you want at your club, but obviously not."

It's not luck, they play a type of game that will statistically win them games, I not an admirer of the man, but the club is massive and he can't damage them that much. The damaged was in not getting the right man for them by now, I know it's a weird idea but I think Brenda up at Celtic would be a good choice for them. I've been going to football since 1957 and they are the biggest and continually the best club I've seen in that time, forget all the partisan crap and wishful think.

Statistically they should let in more goals than they do, but their goalkeeper keeps bailing them out.

Should, could, would, they are second for a reason, I've never bought into letting my feelings judge situations, I dont care about other teams and their failures don't make ours any better. They will be the top team in this country for years to come and a cosmic shift in power over decades will be the only thing that changes that not 5 or 6years, but if the dream of them crashing in flames pleases people I should not begrudge them their delusions.

Pardew isn't one of the relegation specialists like Pullis or Allardyce, which is why I was surprised they went for him.
