James McAtee

Gutter Boy

Tim Sherwood
So the player we are now being linked to as a MGW alternative.

Ive been a big fan since his United days. I think he's a really exciting dynamic player who makes things happen in that #10 hole. A bit less aggressive than MGW, but probably a bit more refined/deft.

Asking price supposed to be £35m, but we may be able to push it down under the £30m mark

Do you mean James McAtee?

So him and Elliot for simialr money to what we would have been asked to pay for MGW would be great business
Would leave us with even more issues on player quantity but both are supple smart footballers

Id prefer Dibling to Elliot, but i like the principle of getting two for that fee (and Elliot as a player too)

In terms of numbers, it would probably mean Johnson becoming a full-time CF/replacing Richy

I think that’s Johnson’s only role now we have Kudus
Elliot would do that even more

Agreed on two players for the money...but would you go for McAtee or Luiz? I am increasingly thinking Luiz would 'free' a Bents or Bergvall or Gray to be the 8-style player they really are??? As would Palinha, albeit I am warming to idea of Luiz more...McAtee is a fine prospect but I think we should be looking at more experience right now. I was not into the idea of Elliot, however am warming to it in context. Of course none of this means anything unless we figure out what we're doing squad-numbers wise...

Douglas Luiz?
No one seems to want him and you have to ask why?
I think I he was a top player at villa but not a DM. That was Kamara who is massively underrated there
I really really like a MGW but couldnt see where he fitted … but still wanted him
I can see where Pailinha fits
Same with McAtee and Elliot
Or squad feels very lopsided now
Still no left back cover too is really poor

There is something odd there

Juve bomb him out after a year and the only clubs that have been linked are West Ham and Everton

Indeed it is a question to ask...like Oshimon in a way (albeit the latter's ridiculous wage demands don't help)...if not Luiz, I'd be going for Palinha and Elliot at this point. I think we need proven Prem players right now, albeit if McAtee helps with the squad situation (not sure) then I see that as an argument. I just think a short-term Luiz or Palinha gives us the dedicated 6 we need and allows maybe an Abbott (or even Gray) to develop into one...

The players we've bought from the prem seem to be our biggest disappointments at the moment.

don't see Emirates Marketing Project selling McAtee - they know a good player when they see one, and they are far from needing financial help!

Im not sure we'd need McAtee to be more experienced if he's coming in to compete with Kulu and Maddison, two of our most senior players. He's also got 3 full seasons under his belt, and is versatile across the 10/8/RW positions.

I dont see Luiz as being any different (style wise) or better than Bentancur, and the last thing we need is another body.

Didn't they let Palmer go. He's a pretty good player
They did. But to be fair, what happened with Palmer has probably made them more hesitant about releasing such a talent again. Might look to loan him out for a year or two's PL experience or if they were to sell him insist on a buyback clause - either of which I doubt we would entertain. But who knows, they will always invest heavily in ready made players so perhaps they will let him go if we pay a decent fee.....

I think its similar to Elliott at Liverpool, both the club and player have decided its time, age and development wise, for him to move on. McAtee has already been in negotiations with Dortmund and Forest. We'd just be moving into that competition.

Fair counter points...
