Harry Kane MBE

[QUOTE="Spur of the moment, post: 1094034,

Oh and Gary Neville. The chap who fell flat on his face trying to manage in Spain. The ex-United man suggesting what's best for Tottenham.

Yeah right.

He talks a good game though ;)[/QUOTE]
Neville’s only crime was being too ambitious in taking on his first job as a manager at one of Spain’s biggest clubs where he couldn’t properly convey his ideas due to language barriers. He knows what he’s talking about and articulates extremely well, best football pundit by a mile....

So you ignore eveything he says just because he once failed in his first job as head coach in Spain? Yeah right...
Oh he can talk the talk alright but 'when it comes to walking the walk ..

He's a United man, a specialist in boring, predictable, cliched twaddle just like the majority of Sky pundits. Kane needing a rest is just another simplistic predictable narrative like the 'never scores in August' brick the nauseating media like to ram down our throats at every opportunity.

So how about instead, him and all the other stupid pundits asking the obvious questions? Eg why does his manager continue playing him through this spell?

Or how about them bringing a bit of intelligent analysis to bear on the situation? Such as what has happened in the past when prolific strikers like Kane have appeared to need a rest? Like how long should he be rested for? A week? A month? Longer?

And what has been the outcome for player and club when others have returned from a period of rest? Did they always come back as refreshed as they were supposed to, or did they still look off their game when they came back? Does a rest ALWAYS do the trick? Do they ALWAYS start scoring freely immediately upon return?

And how about the alternative of sticking with the player and how well or otherwise that has worked in the past? We hear no mention of the fact Kane has come through these jaded spells before by continuing to play and started scoring freely again, sometimes producing astonishing numbers in the process.

For my part I'm happy for the manager to decide what is best for his players. He seems to be doing a pretty good job one way or another so instead of joining in with the inane 'needs a rest' chorus I'll continue to put my trust in Poch, thank you very much.

Subject Kane is very emotive on here for bloody obvious reasons.

Garry Neville and @Spur of the moment are both correct on this subject.

Harry in an Ideal world needs a two-month rest. Pochettino will be well aware of this and will 'have to' manage the situation.

Neville is one of the better pundits along with Souness and Strachan.
Neville has though softened his anti-United tirades in the few weeks, it is though understandable as he is a fan and has to work and live amongst them.

Is he not correct though?
Read my earlier posts.

Of course he MAY be correct, point is it's his job to come up with reasoned, properly thought-through analysis not lazy, throw away one-liners. On the surface he has all the ready answers but when it came to putting them into practise himself, somehow it wasn't quite the same.

He should be putting himself in the shoes of both the player and his manager, asking how realistic is it to give Kane a sabbatical and what might be the consequences for his club if they get it all wrong.

He was just saying about the phenomenal amount of games he played since 2015(?).
I think he knows there are no simple solutions.

Tbh, if this UEFA nations league wasn't such a commercial deal I'd have expected Southgate to have rested quite a few of his world cup first team.

I'm sure Poch would have loved to have rested Kane, but with Son away on International duty and no summer business we had to bring him in. This argument can go on for ages, as I think both parties could've done more.

I dare say that Bellamy spoke some sense on The Debate about Kane... certainly concur that Southgate should’ve had the decency to give the Golden Boot winner a rest on Tuesday; as Pochettino hasn’t had much chance to rest him what with Son trying to win his freedom and Llorente continuing to look well off the pace.

I'm a big fan of Neville, he's usually right imo.

I like Neville. By standard pundit levels he is pretty much the best there is.

However, I do think his standards have dropped. He isnt making the effort to be insightful anywhere near as much as he was, has slipped into a comfortable (boring/easy) level of analysis and focuses more on his "bants" with Carragher than quality football punditry.

And even then, still better than the rest.

Which shows how bad they are, rather than how good he is. He is in danger of being an Alan Hansen, capable of so much more but doesnt bother because he is sat next to an idiot like Lawro so why bother?

I think theres another pundit that could do really well, and not at all a name is Higginbottham. He covers the championship really well and his analysis is good quality, Id put him at least up there with Jenas who I rate highly too....
